I'm ready to make the plunge and could use some advise and direction. Are some years considered a better investment than others? Do some colors demand a higher price than others? Are there things that I should be especially watchful for? Since I'm not sure how well I'm going to like my Prowler or how long I'll keep it, I'd like to invest as little as possible but enough to make a sound purchase. I would like to know that I can get out and recapture my investment if I decide to or need to. Whacha think |

I would personally try to get a 2000 model or newer....a few extra features the 1997/1999 models don't have plus they have a little softer ride.....there are a couple of two tone special editions out there, the "Woodward" and the "Black Tie" are low production numbers, approx 150 of each made.....some colors(candy red,300 made) seem to bring a small premium, but not enough difference to really worry about....main thing is get the color you want, try to get low miles if possible and just drive it......the major depreciation curve seems to be over on these cars and if you get a good buy, you should be able to drive it and lose very little if any.... the pricing seems to run from the around $25K for high mile cars to $35k for cars with only a few turns on the odometer.....it will lose you far less than a mini-van and you will have lots more fun.....

I agree. You can still get a good deal on new or virtually new. Make sure you take a ride in one on a rough or normal road and consider what you will use it for. Mine is a cool toy that maybe will have some $$ value later. At least my 1 year old will have something hip to drive when he gets older. Until then I'll enjoy it! |

The advice listed above is great. Get a newer model, less than 5 or 6,000 miles. Plenty out there, Ebay is a great place to see where the market is right now. My only advice is catch one still under factory warranty, which should be easy. Then get the DC extended warranty for protection. I have had mine for 8 months and it is truly an amazing experience to have your own. Every ride, every time! |

Rick, I think you are looking at the car for all the wrong reasons. You don't know how much you will like it or how long you will keep it and it sounds like you are thinking of it as an investment. Don't take this as an insult, I do not mean it like that at all. If the car does not grab you, why buy it? It will not be going up in price in the near future, probably. Cars are not normally a good investment. There are exceptions, for sure but so far the Prowler is not one of the exceptions. If you really like the car, take a ride in it. I bought mine without ever sitting in one. I bought a red one off a picture I saw on eBay, but did not get that car. I got one from a dealer. Again, do not take this as an insult. You ask, whacha think so I gave you my honest opinion. |

Rick.....as I said in response to your email, I don't think most of us bought these cars as an investment. I think that we all hope that the value will increase as the economy recovers......and someday there will be increased interest in the car. After all, with the low numbers built, it will be one that would be considered "rare". Then there is always the debate on whether "stock" cars will be of more value than a "modified" car. I believe that stock/original cars are always worth more than modified. I believe in driving my cats as much as possible (seasonal here in Michigan) and enjoying the heck out of them...which I do!! I don't plan on ever selling either of mine, so the investment part of it is of no concern to me! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

This week's poll is a good indication. Overwhelmingly the respondents say it is still a "thrill" to drive the car and only 9 B.B. King responses. Most of the owners think it is a thrilling car, not merely transportation or an investment. |

Rick, If you want the fastest car I would stick with the yellow everyone knows the fastest one is yellow (even the candy colored people)OH oh I would get a auto and a convertable as well.Those look cool. ------------------ |

Pick a color, find a low mileage one, buy it, drive it, enjoy it. If you have to drive a car that depreciates, you may as well have fun while you are doing it.Personally I think the market for low mileage Prowlers is about a s low as it will get. Higher mileage one may take a further hit, but there are still plenty of low milers out there. |
