Yeah, I know we are just getting started with the 2004 Prowlin' season for a lot of the country, but I wanted to see if there is any interest in attending as a group the NSRA - Street Rod Nationals in Louisville in August 2005. Since there will be 14,000 to 16,000 Street Rods in town, I would need to start very soon making arrangements with a hotel. If there is enough interest to move forward you can look for any further developements in the Upcoming Events Section later. Marty ------------------ |

Note that I am talking about NEXT YEAR. This year all hotels within 55 miles of town are booked already - plus I will be working in Chicago during this year's event. Larry - they have been coming here for over 15 years with only a couple of years booked elsewhere. They have had an occssional thunderstorm and one year had a near flood one morning but he sun was out the same afternoon. Typical weather is Hazy, Hot & Humid, but you wouldn't know about humidity! |

I had been told in the past that it was an indoor event. When Marty posted that many cars were at the event, I was totally confused. I didn't know if he meant there were that many hot rods in town, but not necessarily at the event or if his estimate was way off, or I was misled in the past. A local guy always tells me I should go. "You could start at one end of the building and have an entire car built before you reached the other end of the building." I know exactly where the building is located, but have never been inside. I am guessing almost all of the parking is in the rear of the building since the front lot does not seem all that large. |

Sounds like a cool event, although a bit far for me I think. Marty, what has been the reaction to your car, or a Prowler at a old school event like this one? Or is it all comers welcome? I remember a few members talked about a event at Yellowstone in 2005? That I would really like to do as I have never been there |

Now Yellowstone I would do! BEAUTIFUL country, and I was born in Billings. Have family up there and I might be able to talk them into a car collection visit while up that way. |

The 14,000 - 16,000 Official cars are all pre 1949 - No Muscle cars, no customs, no lead sleads, No Vettes, no Vipers, no Prowlers. You have to be official just to drive on the grounds but there is off site parking right across the street. Inside is 200,000 square feet flea market, arts and crafts area, 50,000 sq/ft - concept, throphy winning cars, 300,000 sq/ft trade show with all parts and services to build street rods. I believe they host an auction also, but not sure. Dates are always first week of August like 4-6 or 6-8 - never overlapping Woodward. I'll make preliminary calls later this week about possible hotel just to see what is avaiable (if any). Marty |

Just wanted to make sure everyone understands NO PROWLERS ALLOWED This is the PREMERE show in STREET RODS. They had it on TV over the weekend, I guess last years show. I have not been to the show but would like to come...for me it could be a LONG DAY trip..unless there are alot of Prowler buddies coming. I have heard the best seat in the house is to sit at entrance and watch from there, or wear really comfortable shoes. As for the inside show, REMEMBER IT IS AIR CONDITIONED, and you might need a break from the HEAT |

Gosh Larry - you said it so much better than me so everyone undersatnds AS I said,we can get parking aceross the street with all the other non official STREET RODS. If you don't want to pay the $13.00 or so to get in, you can get a good luck at many of the cars just cruising hotel parking lots! You just can't get your Prowler in the show. |
