I have enjoyed reading this message board as I awaited my first Prowler. I took delivery two hours ago of a 2001 Mulholland with 88 miles on it from the showroom floor of a dealership. The odometer now reads 91 as I made it back to work enjoying every bit of our 86 degree afternoon. I will have many questions and of course pictures to share but have some catching up to do. My first question is break in period. Since this car has sat on a showroom floor for three years, is there anything special I should be doing to get this Cat off on the right paw? Any replies will be greatly appreciated. |

I would run some gas treatment through it, read the manual and have fun. You might see an Orange(Bob and Nita) and a blue(Rick Miles, my old crew chief). there are some cruise night there, LA MESA, EL CAJON AND ESCONDIDO,,,, congrats and enjoy. |

Welcome to the club. My advise is to get front flap flaps, ceramic brake pads for the front and DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE! ------------------ |

Congratulations!!! Welcome to the POA! I'm a little hyper about my cars when it comes to the engines so I would suggest an oil change, just because it's sat for so long. The tires might be flat spotted from sitting on the showroom floor (mine were - bought a 2000 in 2002) and that will go away the more you drive it. The computer "learns" as you drive, so after an initial 1,000 mile break in drive it how you want it to perform. Enjoy it!! There's not another car out that gets as many looks and cheers! Drove mine to work today and as I was leaving the parking garage a large group of guys were walking to the American Airlines' Center - must have been a Dallas Stars' game - when I drove past them they all cheered and yelled and gave me the thumbs up! You'll love it. Make it to a national event as soon as you can - everyone in the POA is great and there's nothing like seeing 100+ prowlers in a row going somewhere. Do what Marty says and get mudflaps on as soon as possible to save the paint from rock chips! Have fun with it and we'll see you soon at an event! Tami |

XP - WELCOME TO THE POA! I'd drive it 1500 to 2000 miles first,,,,then change to Mobil 1 oil. Believe there are some camshaft lubricants in the factory oil that need to be driven in? I'd also go easy the first 1,000 miles and then drive it like you stole it! ENJOY THE RIDE PS - National Prowler event is 90 days away in Texas,,,,,you ready to GO? ------------------

Congrats on your new 2001. As soon as you get used to it(which shouldn't take long),you won't be able to stop driving it..... You should be done your break-in in about a day or so! |

Thanks for the warm welcome. It has been 24 hours now and I am hooked. The Low Tire light came on last night and I found all four tires were low. I am 6'4" and drove today with the top up just to get the feeling, not that we need it here in San Diego and was surprised to not feel claustrophobic. I have read with interest the threads on taking care of the appearance and will be shopping for the right car care products. I plan to switch to synthetic Mobil One but will wait for the first 1,000 miles to slip by. And finally, I will likely not make the event in Texas as the Mrs. is expecting twins June 12th.

Hmm, the thought of missing the birth of the twins never crossed my mind. Wonder what kind of group I am getting involved with here! Ordered ceramic brake pads, front mud flaps and tranny cooler cover today to go along with Air Patrol. The SSK Replica is currently for sale on AutoTrader as the Prowler is now my number one toy.

I can't offer any more advice than everyone else has, but I do want to congratulate you on your cat and welcome you to the POA!!! This is a great group of people (and they really aren't condoning missing the birth of your twins..lol.....Steve's wife's timing was just off a bit!! lol) and you will have an awesome time getting to know us. Just try to make another event if Texas isn't going to work out.........there is always something going on!! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

xpguy: Thanks for posting the pixs of the SSK. I agree with CJ. No one here expects you to miss the birth of your twins! I feel that I'm a fairly active member, but I can't make it to hardly any events due to my committments to my young and active family. Enjoy what POA has to offer in the manner that best suits your likestyle. Again, WELCOME! ------------------ |
