Out of curiousity, I'm wondering which brand 2001 owners tend to asociate their kats with, Chrysler or Plymouth. Is it different then what's branded onto the front center of the hood? Personally, I've always thought of the Prowlers as Plymouths and distinctly went out searching for an 01 Plymouth Orange to buy...and I get offended when my dealer lists it as a "Chrysler" in their records ed <--- staring at repair orders, wishing he was night-cruising in his kat instead |

I think if you own and bought a 2001 or 2002 Prowler Chrysler, that is exactually what you have. If you owned a Chrysler Prowler you would understand that is is a Chrysler product. If it was purple you would know it's not!!! and that is the rest of the story.... |

I owned some MOPAR muscle cars in the 60s and I have associated performance with Plymouth (Road Runner, GTX, Fury, Cuda) and Dodge (Charger, Challenger, Coronet, Superbee), so for me having a performance car that's a Plymouth is nostalgic. |

DITTO,,,,,,,,,,,,, DC should have left the Plymouth name on it until the end of production. IMO, it was a terrible decision they made. Same car, two names, makes no sense. |

I have one of the original Prowlers. 2001 Plymouth. The clones made by Chrysler are almost as nice as the originals. "Almost" LOL |

Plymouth Prowler seemed more apt a name but, I suspect one of two things: 1) they had alot of parts left over and wanted to just build out the prowlers; 2) they wanted some sort of magnet car for Chrysler (like the Viper for Dodge) till the Crossfire was available. Perhaps a bit of both.... |

I have the best of both worlds........a 1999 Black Plymouth Prowler and a 2002 Candy Red Chrysler Prowler! Think of it this way........if they had not decided to give the Prowler the Chrysler name once they terminated the Plymouth brand.....the car would have been cancelled a lot earlier than it was.........and a lot of us wouldn't have one!!! |

Why didn't all Plymouths have the correct rear bumpers on them in 2001,were they intending to badge them for Chrysler or did they just run out?? |

quote: Interesting...I hadn't heard of this before! The production figures didn't list any Chryslers for 2000...is this rebranding, or will I have to go back and review all of my stats how? I've been researching the rebranding of Prowlers for more conversation stats. I made sure I went out to get a Plymouth 2001. It's a bit more historically accurate...I love pointing out the styling theme that carried over the the PT Cruiser and think just what could have been done with that look and the Plymouth brand. In a way, the "Plymouth" moniker has become (or should have become) as unique as the car After all...there's no way a reasonable person could associate the same brand with a Prowler and a LeBaron ed |

Ed; I believe all five pilot Black tie were titled under the Chrysler brand. I could be wrong, however, I know mine is titled as a 2000 Chrysler Prowler. |

Plymouth Prowler just sounds "right"... Chrysler Prowler??? hmmmmm... To me it's corporate profit sqeezing and a diservice to Plymouth AND Chrysler to change the name of an identical car. To me... the decision just says volumes about the "new" leadership of the new DC. |
