Viewing the current voting results on the HOME PAGE POA Weekly Poll Question, it seems we nearly have a split decision on the present question. Close POST REPLY to all classified ad threads - 56 88 total ***********************************************************
Are there any hanging chads? Looks like we are heading towards respectfully, disagreeing with each other. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 02-08-2004 at 02:29 PM |

....My take on the replies is this.....sometimes the ads are not very well stated....price, miles etc may not be posted clearly.....sometimes there are legitimate questions that need to be cleared up..... ....many of the ads posted are posted by "NEWBIE"...a dealer wanting to use the FREE ad space here while contributing nothing to the overall upkeep of the site.... ....some new members or wannabee members may need help when asking questions about the $75K '98 Prowler in factory "Prowler Tan"...don't want them to get stung on an ad by Mr Newbie..... ...all in all, tough question, but I would leave it open to reply.....think it clears the air better.....silence about the $75K '98 Prowler tends to lend credability to scam ads..... |

No hanging chads in Texas, sorry....We have kicked around the idea of having a "Moderator" for the classified section, but who? Anyone interested?? Why would you be a good choice? Can you do it with enough tact and restraint? Please Email me with your reasons why YOU would make a good moderator. ------------------ |

I own a whole box of tacks and owe back taxes but own just one pair of restraints so that leaves me out. |

When I posted this new thread, I thought we would get lots of input to the dilemma at hand of "what to do" with the CLASSIFIED FORUM. To my surprise, only Tangled up in Blue responded with an opinion. Either people don't care, don't have an opinion, or don't want their opinion to be aired in print for fear of being on the wrong side of the fence? I, like Ed, have no tact and even less restraint,,,,so I'm ruled out. I personally don't know of anyone who could handle the Moderator's position and the stress involved in trying to make everyone happy. If there is a volunteer out there, step up to the plate. |

...spent my life on the wrong side of the fence.....somewhat tactless at times and have a terrible temper ALL THE TIME....I don't see an emergency here myself....time will fix this.... |

Just leave the ability to respond to classifieds. If anyone responds in a unethical, hurtful or destructive manner, the voluntary vote of 5 Junkies restricts that individual from classified responses for 6 months. The site would have to be modified to allow restrictions for this function. Judged by your peers.... |

I haven't thrown my 2 cents in because I can see the pros and cons to both sides. Mike's suggestion of a moderator is a great idea. I lack the tact necessary. It also should be someone who daily visits the site, not someone like me who may have to travel and be offline for 3 or 4 days at the time. ------------------ |

Install a thread just for Car Classified ads only with no way to reply to that thread, just PM or E-Mail the person. Then have a thread for all other Classified ads and leave it open for replies. If someone wants to post an ad about there car on that thread, then they are wide open for comments, good or bad. JMO Kelley |
