I am looking at buying prowler I am looking a 99 red and an 00 yellow. my question is what is the differences in these cars if any. also the 00 has a 1 or 2 inch crack under the right taillight. is this a common problem or isolated I also seen a similar crack on a 99 yellow. do you think this would be a big deal to fix or should a stick with the 99 although I really like the yellow. thanks for the help in advance.

There have been a few reports of cracks around the tailights but I don't think it is common. I have a 99 with 27,000 miles, with no cracks. Don't know about the repair costs.

Smoother riding suspension on the '00 and later models, but shocks are more prone to leaking on these years. Not all leak, but something to watch for. Good luck in your search.

Other differences between 99 and 00. Speed controlled radio volume, computer mirror (compass, outside temp, estimated miles to empty) Chrome shift bezel with leather boot on shifter as opposed to plastic slide. (Ugly) Gray bumpers on 99's , black bumpers on 00. I also believe the exhaust manifolds were changes and the torgue converter. Due to softer suspension on the 00's and newer, the 99's ride lower.

these cracks are not hard to fix.make sure you take it to a shop that knows how to fix smc.rear fenders should be removed and repaired and painted off car.yes it costs more to do it that way,but you will have a much nicer job.cost?
get a couple of ests.at least,then compare.

I think you'll like the yellow as they are the fastest.

if they are going top speed, then no matter what color it is,it will turn purple.if it doesnt change its not going fast enough.its in the back of your manual.purple is the fastest.

If the shop is any good at any, they can fix this and match it perfectly ON the car. Had mine done many times... it is just a yellow, easy match. I'd go for the 00. It should cost around $300 to fix this.

Personally, I would try to grab the most recent Prowler made...not only would you still have some original 3/36,000 warranty left, but significant improvements in ride were made in the more recent Prowlers.

Good luck on your search, and no offense to ANY pre-00 owner, but I would recommend to get at least a 2000 or newer....just a bit more refined at that point.

I cracked my fender under the tail light trying to get something out of the trunk. It was a pain to fix and I had to have it fixed twice to get it right. Cost me $$$$. My advise is to buy one in a good shape. Plus, in my opinion if the owner did not take care of the outside of the car imagine the inside/engine. There are plenty of other nice prowlers out there!
