Great article!!If someone reads this they will say, why buy one! Totally impractical! But i never let someone's opinion sway me, i have to make my own observations, decisions. The reason i own 2 is they are just plain FUN. If you don't get that prowler feeling well i feel bad for you. Why sell it? You'll never get that feeling from any other car, because nothing is like our kats. ------------------ |

Hi Pumpkin, Thanks for sharing the interesting article on the Prowler. I agree with the writer on two or three points for sure: 1. "Prowler orange is best color yet"
3.This may be the only vehicle sold in the year 2001 that becomes a future collectible. Almost guaranteed.

Do other Kat owners find this to be true? Quote from article; First off, let me tell you that the Prowler frightens as speed increases. The shaking that is constant at low speeds and idle becomes pronounced at anything above about 50 miles an hour. Both hands must tightly, and I mean white-knuckle tightly, grip the fat steering wheel unless you're on a marble road. So, venturing to 60 miles an hour and feeling the Prowler dance all over the empty back road, I jammed down hard on the brake pedal. |

I drive my Kat at 80 MPH with my left hand at about 7 o:clock with my arm resting on my leg. I have never, let me repeat never had to white knuckle grip the steering wheel on any road surface. I do have an upper suspension brace installed which helps on the rougher roads. But again even without the brace no white knuckling. I have my Kat to about 110 mph and never been nervous about my ability to control it. |

I have to agree with Rich.....my only white knuckle experience was following MeanGene to Kentucky in 2002. I have had the car a little faster than Rich, but never felt like I was losing control. |

This articlemakes me wonder if I got the only Kat that rides good and handles.I have owned 18 streetrods in past 15 years and a couple of them were$ 60,000.00 rods with air ride susp.and I can honestly say my Kat rides and handles better than any of these rods.So I guess my hobbie has spoiled me to point of accepting all writer has to say is wrong. My 2cents.Also my wife Janice is recovering well so far from her cancer surgery, still in ICU. Gabe, Ron never drove his Kat much, I suspect the tires are out of balance. if not the alignment of front and REAR needs to be done. That guy probably drove a rental. ------------------ |

Just read the entire article. I find the guy to be honest on his 'opinions'. Did agree with some of what he said but it is apparent that he needed to drive the car more than a week to get the feel and understanding of it's handling. If the cat was built the way he wanted everything, the selling price would have nearly doubled and priced many out of this market. Glad I got one,,,,or 2 ------------------

Firegabe---If your kat isn't running right or your not sure if it is, let Todd drive it and give you his observations. Ron seems to be a perfectionist. My kats don't wobble, but shocks are stiff and if you hit a pothole or something in the road with the runflats you'll feel it. I have drove 7 hrs in it to Niagara falls and it was fun. But for a 300+ lb man thats about as long a drive as i want to take in one day! Todd wasn't Ron's car Totaled and he bought a kit to rebuild It????Only Kiddinggabe ------------------ |

I don't know about the "rough ride" aspect of this article. With non runflat Dunlops and a shock tower brace installed, and running about 28 to 29lbs of air pressure, I find the ride not bad at all. If you get rid of those Goodyears those of you who have never driven a Kat without them will find a real treat in the ride dept. JRL |

Have driven our kat on two long trips and never had the feeling that i wasn't in control. Even in rain with our trailer she handled well. The writer made some good points but thats the fun and experience of owning our kats..They have what most cars don't and that's CHARACTER!! |

ET, the alignment means so much more on this car than anything else I have ever driven. If it is a little off, the car does wander and will absolutely eat up the tires in only a couple hundred miles. Also, the suspension braces that everyone refers to do help keep the front on the ground better through corners and over bumps. I installed the upper and lower braces on mine. I don't have to white knuckle it unless I am really pushing it, but I always have to pay attention because the roads aren't the greatest around here. I would imagine any car with this type of suspension and weight would be the same except the reactions you get when moving or sitting still! |
