Hello, I am not a Prowler enthusiast, but my 13 yr old daughter is. She is the reason I am posting. I want to do something extra special for her birthday in December. She is a great kid and deserves a surprise she thought she could only dream about. Walk in her room and there's no doubt that loves the Prowler. She has a calendar, tiny cars, posters, etc. hanging everywhere. I thought maybe for her birthday, I could rent a Prowler for about 4 or 5 hours, drive her to the beach, then to the Wings Surf Shop, then drop her off at the surprise birthday party her friends have planned for her at the movie theater. Big problem though, I can't find a place that rents Prowlers. I checked drivenimage.com, and they have some nice looking cars, but no Prowlers. I live in the St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa Florida area. I am hoping that maybe someone here will know where I can rent a Prowler, or if this just isn't possible. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them! Thanks! Kimber |

Kimber ---email me your name and address, I have some prowler brouchures and stuff that are duplicates i can send you. Also alot of great guys in Fla who might drive by and drop her off at her party and maybe take a hour or so to give some rides. I would but i'm in connecticut! There are quite a few members in Florida and you should hook up with them and go on a cruise with them. She could find a ride and would love it.------------------ This message has been edited by CTProwler on 11-03-2003 at 12:43 PM |

Kimber177, Actually, I looked into the same thing for my wife and found a place in Tampa that rented them. I was going to grab it for the weekend but it was already rented. I think the price was $400 a day but they would work a deal if you rented it for the weekend. I cannot remember the name right off hand but do a Google search for "automobile rentals" or "exotic car rentals". There was a larger company that has stores nationally. Hope this helps. |

BT 161 is right about her probably not being able to see out. However if can't ,you can just have her use cushion. I have taken each of our many Grandchildren for a ride and none of them could see out. You know what, they really didn't care. Sorry BT161, I'm not flaming you just presenting another opinion. If we lived nearby I could chauffer her around for a few hours for you, but sadly we don't. |

Hey, I never said the $400 was a good price, it was just the price that was given to me. Heck, If I lived there then I would gladly let them take my Kat for a spin (well, if the Kat was running I would).... |

Wow, everyone here is so nice and helpful! Thanks for all the replies! As for the $400 a day, woah...that is a little out of my range for a birthday gift, maybe if it were a graduation gift I would fork out that much, but not for a birthday. The place you were referring to must be the place they advertised on the radio station she listens to. She mentioned an advertisement that said they had a Prowler for rent, but she said the advertisement said $400 an hour! I was hoping she was mistaken. And in response to the height issue, she is short, only 5' tall, so I will definitely remember the cushion suggestion if I manage to figure this out. I think just taking a spin in a Prowler would be plenty for her, but if no one can see her twirling around in a Prowler it just won't be the same! Again, thanks for the replies, the suggestions and passing along my question. While I am here, can anyone offer advice on how I can find out more about local Prowler shows? Kimber |

Kimber, there are a couple of ways to find out about upcoming events. On this PRWOLERONLINE site there is a forum about "Upcoming Events" and another that says "Event Discussion". You can look at that. If you get Yeller Cat, Jay Harris' attention he would probably put you on the email list of the Florida owners and send you any info about upcoming events. He will see this thread in the next day or so and will respond. He and his wife are very nice, helpful people and I would bet they can come up with a solution. There is the Turkey Run on Thanksgiving week-end and there will be about 30 Prowlers there. That should hold your daughter for a few weeks. Click on this thread and it will take you to the Events Section http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000882.html http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000276.html Then on the top line of Yeller Cat's post, you will see "PM" or next to it a regular "email icon". Click on either one and you will have the bases covered. PM is Privat Email thru this site. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 11-03-2003 at 09:24 PM |

Rental here also $400 a day. I have a son who is 11. I PROMISE you she would love a ride. My son can barely see over the door, but it doesn't matter, he grins ear to ear when he gets to ride in our kat. I hope that a local owner there can help out. It would be cool if it could be worked out for her to get a ride to the movie theatre and be dropped off in a Prowler in front of her friends! ------------------ |

Heck, I even go younger then that. My 2 1/2 year old rides with me. All I do is install in car seat, turn the airbag off and give him his sunglasses and favorite stuffed animal and we're good to go. One lucky thing is that the car seat gives him just enough height to see out (and he really looks cool wearing those sunglasses with a little "Kid Rock" playing on the radio..) |

Kimber, You know you could solve this dilema by simply BUYING a Prowler. It would probably be the best purchase of your life! Think about how happy your daughter would be getting to ride in it EVERYDAY! You would be her hero! Forever! THEN...In just a few years, you could give here the "Birthday Gift of a Lifetime"!!! Whooooooaaaa. Now that would be the coolest thing a person could do for their kid! Imagine being 16 with a Prowler!!! I was 16 with a white Honda CB160 and an old 55 Chevy BelAire (little did I know what it would be worth today.) I hope I can do it for my son. You only live once (or at least that what I am afraid of) so you gotta go for all the gusto life has to offer. If you don't do it this time around, you might never. Ed Holler PS. Kim, If I were closer to Clearwater I'd help you out! I know how much kids love the Prowler. Ocassionally I take the neighborhood kids for a ride and they love it! If we ever do an event in Tampa area I'll give your daughter a ride in my Prowler. ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 11-05-2003 at 07:06 AM |

There's an idea. Great opportunity for another cruise with a good cause. Make an event out of it. What a thrill she would have with a dozen or so Prowlers suddenly appearing at her house just for her on her birthday. And getting to go for a ride in one too! I can see the smile on her face already from here. ------------------ |

Kimber 177, I saw a Black Prowler for rent in South Pasadena on South Pasadena Avenue across from Pasadena Palms Hospital. Driven Image in Clearwater used to rent a Prowler out for $250.00 per day, but they no longer have one. I do live in Clearwater and as long as your planned day is not December 6th (I have a sales meeting at work), I would be willing to chauffeur her, but sorry, my baby is not for rent. You can post here if you are interested or email me at prowlerbabe@hotmail.com. Hope I can help! Kendra |

Ok, I can't figure out how to reply to each post individually, or if it is even possible, so I am going to reply to everyone in this one post. Ed Mohanan--thanks for the help in locating upcoming events. Your info is going to be very useful. Blue Bullet--Oh she would just die if I actually bought a Prowler. I might not be obsessed with them as she is, but I still adore them and don't think I would pass it on for her 16th birthday. :-) Maybe owning one would give her reason to come home once in a while from the cool life she is living on a college campus some day! Tomdenise1---I tried calling Ultimate Rental and keep getting a busy signal. I have been really busy lately so only gave it a shot for an hour on Monday. I will keep trying tomorrow and if I can't get ahold of anyone, I might drop by the address you gave for them. Thanks for the info! Spoons---That is great that you give the neighborhood kids rides. I better not let her know that or she will be wanting to move into your neighborhood. Her birthday is December 30. idive---wow, an event like that would be one heck of a birthday present! You have such a big heart to even imagine something like that! ProwlerBabe---I will check out that Prowler for rent on Pasedena Beach. When was the last time you saw it sitting there? She always sees a purple Prowler sitting on East Bay drive in Largo. My parents live right down the street from where it sits and everytime we leave their house, she makes me drive past it even though it's in the opposite direction of our home. I will keep in mind your possible offer to chauffeur her on her birthday. Her birthday is December 30. Silverflame---How far is New Smyrna Beach from Pinellas county? Thanks for the possible offer....I will keep it in mind too! CJ---thanks to Chuck, she has quite a bit more now than she had a week ago! She just doesn't know it yet. She loves Prowler shirts, stickers, posters, pins, she really wants a hat, she wants actual pictures of Prowlers for her scrapbook, she collects Prowler keychains but has only found 3 of them so far, and one unfortunately has an almost naked woman on it, she wants those little matchbox like cars of a Prowler...in other words anything to do with a Prowler is something she would like. Her favorite Prowler color is blue, but she would love to see a babyblue Prowler. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply. I am not on here everyday so if it takes me a while to reply, don't think I just faded away! I also made note of those who supplied email addresses to reply privately, I will be emailing you in the near future. Have a great day everyone! Kimber |
