Well if we didn't have bad luck lately we would not have any luck at all. Just before the Smokies someone ran into our Dodge Ram in a parking lot and caved in the door. $1200 + damage. More on this tale of woe.
Tonight coming home from a show there was a whole pile of aluminum siding laying in the road across at least three lanes of traffic. Us and everyone around us hit it at 65 mph. Siding was flying everywhere. Damage to the Kat as follows. Left front bumper slightly scratched. Left side of nose heavily scratched. Rocker panel under the drivers door both gouged and scratched. Small scracth on drivers door. Bra on trailer sliced opened on bottom edge of both fender. The left( drivers side) is the worst. I dont think the tariler bra can be repaired. This is going to be expensive. To add insult to injury just after we hit the debris it started raining. Now the Kat is not only scratched, but filthy dirty as well. And after I just spent a week detailing it. Now starts a mad scramble to try and get if fixed before CTC.
Now more on the truck saga. Took it in for repair Monday 09/15 and was told it would be done Friday 09/19. Friday they call and the truck is not done. The replacement door skin they got for the repair was damaged so they had to get another. I was told the truck was painted but the paint would not be dry enough to reinstall trim. They told me it would be ready Monday. Monday 09/22 it was raining, I they called and said the truck would not be ready as the primer was not drying. Primer I say, I thought the truck was painted? reply song and dance blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda, and it will be ready Tuesday 09/23, Tuesday morning they call me first thing the truck will be ready. Good News. They call again at 11:30 Bad News, someone scratched the truck backing it out of the paint booth. They said they could have it back to me Wednesday. I told them I could not pick it up Wednesday so I would pick it up Thursday. Thursday I call them they don't call me. Yes the Truck is ready. Went to pick it up that afternoon and the truck had been cleaned, but it was a very sloppy and incomplete job. Guy says his detailers not in because his mother died. He had one of the other employees clean it. He offered to give me a complete detail job any day I choose for free. I am not sure I want to take it back. Things have got to get better.

Rich,

sorry to here about the bad luck, the good thing is no mention of bodily injury

I was driving down the interstate one day and a pick up passes me doing at least 5mph faster than I, about 5 car lenghts in front of me his tail gate comes off and is sliding down the interstate in front of ME............luckily I slowed and no one hit me in the rear and the gate slid off on the shoulder before coming to a stop

This is my biggest worry driving the cat, ROAD DEBRI

Well since we are on the subject.. my wife, who has driven the car 4 times including this one, won the award for driving into as much road debris as possible on the way home from PTS in the Prowler. I think she thought it was funny while I was trying to sleep. A few times I think she went out of her way and aimed right for the debris. Luckily no damage or I would have taken that trophy away from her and #@!$&.

Sorry to hear all that Rich. I have read on here the way you keep your vehicles pristine. Hope it works out with your insurance if possible.
Sorry about your truck too. Mine has a few dings in it also, but it's a construction truck, hard to keep new. Stay focused, I have a feeling things will work out for you.

Rich: So sorry to hear about the cat and your truck!! That's awful. We hope everything works out and they are back to as good as new soon!! I know what you mean though - sometimes it just gets worse before it gets better. We just had Ken's truck back from getting fixed after someone smashed in his front fender in a parking lot when he had to fly out of town for business. When he got back someone had smashed in his tailgate at the park and fly. Both were hit and runs. It will get better - keep your chin up! Tami and Ken

Rich - what a bummer of a month for you. Hope the truck and cat can be repaired to your satisfaction.

On the trailer bra,,,Ed said he would just use duct tape on the tear. I would claim it also on the insurance report.

Just last week, I seen a washer/dryer on the freeway,,,,,then a mile down the road, a couch. Who are these people?

Thanks All. I went out and washed the Kat this morning and found more damage. The rubber fender guard pad has a slice in it . The left front wheel has three sizable chips on one spoke and the drivers door has more scratches than I intitally thought. Looks like there is no way I can get this all repaired before CTC. I am really bummed out.

Rich - sorry to read about what happened. If your car is driveable and you still plan to attend CTC, I will be happy to send you my trailer bra to use until you get around to repairing or replacing your's. We have no plans for trips using ther trailer until next year so it is just sitting in thr garage.

Marty

Thanks Marty, yes the Cat is driveable just badly scratched and doesn't look too good. Probably looks worse to me than to others but it is my opinion of how it looks that matters. Trailering the Cat to CTC so we are not taking the Prowler trailer. Thanks for the offer very kind and generous of you. The bra is still functional just looks bad. It may not be covered by insurance. We may just try to repair it.

Bummer Rich, sorry to hear it. Drive it or trailer it anyway. It's better to feel good than to look good!

Your mishap reminds me of my first trip to Woodward. Just north of your house on I-75, I swerved to miss a bumper laying on the highway. Locked up the brakes, got sideways, up on two wheels and stopped in the median. But, I missed the bumper!

Hope to see you and Linda at CTC.

Tough Luck Rich! Glad no one was Hurt!
I had a Semi have a blow out going 70mph on the highway........Chunks of rubber flying everywhere.....I locked up the brakes & prayed no one would hit me.......Whew.....It was scarey.....Those big chunks would have busted up the Prowler for sure....

I guess I'll share a couple of my experiences... Was heading down the freeway here in town and the lady in the lane next to me and just ahead of me, her hood flew up and over her car, landing half in my lane and half in the lane she was in. I swerved and missed it but the guy next to me (behind her) wasn't as lucky. The lady, who's hood it was, just kept going, never hit her brakes, never slowed down, never batted an eye, and never looked back.
Another time, I was cruising down the freeway, and the truck in front of me had a piece of plywood (about 3'x3') in his bed that was catching the air and floating up. Finally it flew up and out and headed right at my windshield (neck level). I had a car next to me and no shoulder on the other side of me. I always said if something like that would happen, I'd lay over in the seat, but I just froze. The air tunnel on my car ('80 Monza) lifted it up and over my car and slammed it on the road behind me. Both me, and the people in the lane next to me were in shock.
Finally, I was again, heading down the freeway, and the truck in front of me ran over someone's car part laying in the road (part of a fender or something) and flung it across my hood on the van and into my windshield. Initially I hit the brakes, then sped up to get the insurance info from the truck. He saw what happened and floored it to get away. I managed to get his license # and reported it to the police but they said to just let my insurance handle it. I asked for him to run the plate for me to give my insurance and he wouldn't.
Rich, I hope you're able to get your kat back in shape without any more problems.

my orange Kat took quite a few hits from various objects, part of the driving experience....the worst being a 4 inch split in the nose from hitting a real cat......the cat was split in two by the suspension and the head cracked the plastic nose.....

Rich, Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help. If you need a good paint man, I'm told we have one here in Covington. i certainly would not take the Kat ot the fellow working on the Ram.
