Hello Everyone,

Well I'm on the Prowl with an 01 Mulholland Edition.

How I got here: I bought a Millennium Yellow 2003 Corvette Conv. last September. Waaay Coooool, Waaay Fast, Way too many visits to the service Dept. My wife never really liked it and I finally got fed up with all the problems (A/C, Elect., Rear Axle Seals, Wheel weight moving and scratching the wheels, Etc...)I traded it in on a new Yukon XL for the wife.

I sold her 03 Honda Odyssey Van and was going to just drive my old 95 Ford Aerostar van for a while. THEN...My wife and I were out driving around a couple weeks ago and she said she wanted to se what the new Chrysler Pacifica looked like, so we stopped by a local dealer to look.

After looking (and not very impressed with the Pacifica), she spotted a silver Prowler on the other side of the show room. Her eyes lit up as she asked... What Is THAT?!?!
I told her it was a Prowler. She said "You can get one of those if you want!" I talked to the salesman who said they wouldn't take less than sticker for it.

After I got home I started lusting and craving for a Prowler. I went online and checked EBay. There were a number of them for sale. After checking them all out I found an 01 Mulholland with 900 miles on it in Kansas City. I called the guy the next morning and made him an offer. I caught a 1:05pm flight from Houston to K.C. and a couple hours later I was driving my Kat home.

First Impression...Coming from a new C5: During the all night drive of 850 miles of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas highways (Texas were by far the best,) I thought I was going to have to stop at a hospital to have the disks in my neck expanded for the pounding I was taking. The performance was quite mundane compared to the Vette, and the sound kinda wimpy. But the car was really COOL!

The first gas stop (of many) a girl walked up to me and asked if I was married? I told her I was. She then said "DAMN"! Everywhere I stopped people came up to me to talk about the car. They were all coveting my car and I liked it...A LOT!

The more I drive it, the more I like it...I think it may be love! It's not as fast as the Vette. It's not as comfortable as the Vette. It gets worse mileage than the Vette. It doesn't sound as throaty as the Vette. BUT...I think I like it better than the Vette.

I know there will be no more 150+ mph jaunts down the Hardy Toll Road. I know there won't be as many conquests in the rear view mirror. But that's OK. The car is Waaaay Cooler than the Vette any day.

I've spent the last three days in the garage claying, applying seven coats of Zaino to the car and three to the instrument cluster, removing and polishing all 4 wheels, installing under-car Blue Neons, Splash Guards (cut baclK1 ½”) and applying 303 Protestant to the dash, seats, bumpers, and trim. Now it's raining...GO FIGURE!

Anyway I'm through rambling. Really I just wanted to say hello.

Ed Holler,
Lake Conroe, Texas

I had a 4 Vettes the last was a 2002 rag top, I put just under 1,000 miles. The dealer mess up the paint job. I sold it, then I got a 2002 Candyred Prowler and matching trailer. On the C5 the rear panel seam looks ugly. They build 35K Vettes a year, there only around 11,700 Prowlers. They started in 97, none in 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002. The ride is better from 2000.

Ed, glad to see there is someone else out there who is not possessed of a forehead so low as to think the only redeeming feature of a car is how fast it is!!!! You're going to find it only gets better the longer you own it....

Good to have you on board, You will find that the people are what make the Prowler so much fun. I had a vette also and everyone has a vette. There are many things you can do to help you enjoy the ride and if you need more power you can add a bottle or a blower. have fun.

I was happy getting mine for $36000 a couple of months ago! I have been on ebay alot and there are some good deals now! I don't understand why a car that stickers for $45000 with real low miles is only worth $32700. I might buy another this year if i find one with low miles and some mods i like.I almost feel like i should keep waiting the prices keep going lower.

Ed, Is 303 Protestant anything like 404 Catholic?

Ed - like TRandall said, contact Fred Henkel soon and get on the email list for events. Our next event is September 13 for a parade in Columbus, followed by a cruise out to Round Top area I think, to make a day of it. After that will be another parade and car show in Halletsville on September 27. Hope to see you at either or both events. And welcome to the POA and congrats on your new Kat!
I like the 303 Protestant too. Didn't they follow the 101 Airborn into Iraq? Look how that turned out!
