Just picked up my 2001 Silver Plymouth Prowler from Bankston Chrysler in Frisco, Texas. The prowler had a “growling” sound above 4,000 rpms ever since it was delivered. It had seemed to diminish after changing to Mobil 1at 1,000 miles. I was taking it in for the ball joint recall, hood struts and a squeak in the dash. I had almost forgotten about the sound. I received the call the next day with the news that I needed a new engine. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!! A rod or rod bearing appeared to be the source of the sound. Took them 2 and a half weeks but it seems to have been worth it. Put 100 miles on it and all seems to be OK. The outside temperature showed to be 104 and the car ran cool. Good oil pressure and no signs of leaks. No damage to any A arms/fenders/hood etc… just a few hand prints on the hood (that does not bother me as I like to wash my cars myself). Taking it easy on the new engine for a few hundred miles put it seems to run as strong or stronger than before. So I owe a big thanks to Neal (prowler tech) and to Paul (asst. service manager) for a big job well done! Steve Neal, still did not get the chance to meet you, they said you were out sick today (hope you feel better soon, if you are just faking it, hope you had fun with your day off ). I dropped off the Orange Prowler for the recall so you have something to do when you get back. ------------------ |

Steve, it is good to read about a postive outcome, instead of only the negative comments. Thanks for sharing and glad it worked out so well. |

Steve, I agree with Ed. We hear so many horror stories, it's nice to hear a good one when they happen. Also, nice collection!!! Jim ------------------ |
