First of all....thanks everyone for all the great information on this board!

Question: I was thinking of buying a bra for my 2000 Black Prowler and was wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? Did they scratch or rub the paint?

Thanks for any feedback.....

I have a 2000 Black and have kept the hood portion
of the bra on all this summer. I have had the misfortune
of being caught in the rain twice this year and had to remove it so it would dry, and wash the my kat. Haven't seen any scratches under the bra. A little wax might go a long way to save the paint if your concerned.

Since you live in CA, you may never have to worry about this, but here is a story that happened to one of our Prowler owners. Lesson here is to be cautious if your cat would ever get wet with the bra on.

quote:
Well, the trip up to Woodward took its toll on my Kat. I know CJ posted my problem with driving through the river of water and powderd concrete I thought sure the car was ruined. Then after spending one and half hours of both my wife and myself cleaning the car. I took the bra off and tried to dry it as best I could. I left if off while we ate lunch. After lunch I reinstalled it. I did not want to get back on the Interstate so I decided to take routes 25 and 24 north. Big mistake. Route 25 wasn't bad but 24 was a nightmare. Very rough road and it took us trough the ghettos of Toledo. When we finally arrived at the hotel and after I unloaded our luggage and then proceeded to clean the Kat. I took the bra off and I was shocked to see the paint on my hood had clouded. We tried at CJ and Bob's to get it out with a hair dryer but that didn't work. This weekend I tried a heat gun and that didn't work either. I talked with a painter at a cruise last night. He is first going to try and buff it out. If that does not work he going to repaint my hood. It wil cost me $300.00 plus the cost of the paint. It will be about a week before he can fit me into his schedule. Also while I was cleaning the car in MI on the date we arrived, my mud flap fell off. I guess I was lucky I did not lose it. So the moral to this story is if you get your bra wet, take it off immediately. By the way I got off the Interstate for nothing. On the return trip I noted there was no road construction between Bowling Green and Toledo so I shook the he$l out of my Kat on route 24 for nothing. Live and learn I guess. This one looks like its going to be a costly lesson. But considering what happen to JD on the Deadwood cruise, I guess my troubles were minor. But its still not an easy pill to swallow. By the way I did not put the nose or hood bra back on the car on the return trip. I may never use them again. Thank God the trip home was uneventful.

I've driven thousands of miles using my car bra and never have had a problem. This has been through rain, snow, and sleet. Bra dried on the cat,,,no problems.

JohnnyO.

I've had the bra on the Prowler for almost four years. No scratches, no cloudy paint. The best paint on the car is under the bra.

Now, if the bra ever gets wet, you CANNOT let it dry on the car in the Sun...

My bra stays on the car (probably over 99% of the time). It has gotten wet many times. I always take it off when I get to my destination and let it hang dry. Maybe every six months I vacumn the underneath side (which is felt like material).

Laddie How the painted bra holding up?

Also who did the painting? I would like a second bra painted.

I run the bra on Kat about 50% of the time. Never let car sit in rain with bra on. I have been running bras on all kinds cars for years. If bra get wet underneath paint will cloud. The skin tight is tighter than other bras. I keep my kat bra very tight. This may help keep water out from under the bra on hood.

Stone chips or bra? That's the choice in my book. I have never had a problem with a bra on this car or any other car. I have had a hood bra on a minivan for literally years and only take it off occasionally to wash and wax the hood. No cloudiness, no muss, no fuss. It's the only removable way to maintain front end paint, in my opinion.

Good stuff! We are taking a road trip with our Kat to Michigan's UP for a week. Was concerned about leaving the bra on. If it gets wet from rain we'll just string it up it our room to dry over night!
Thanks for starting this thread JohnnyO !

The painted Bra has held up very well after almost four years. I use Pledge (the household spray) to give a lil shine and keep the bugs off... Seems to work...
