It looks like we need a few pictures. I know everyone takes pictures of their car. Now I want you to take your car and camera and treat it like it was going to the PROM. Make sure the area is flattering & correct time of day for best lighting. Take the time to look past the vehicle and look at the background in the view finder, HOW DOES IT LOOK? are there people/signs/trash/trees growing out of the car? (I sometimes lay down on the ground to get THE SHOT I want) I like different seasons shots also for spring/fall/winter pictures, I know this will mean looking at some pictures you already have. Please do not post here. What we need are very high resolution pictures of your car with NO PEOPLE unless driving type picture, CLEAN background with nice color difference and lighting. Here is Damons suggestions: 960 x 1280 and higher resolution images are definitely in the range to be considered for 8"x10" printing. For images with fewer pixels, we can use those for smaller images displayed in various other places. The 2002-2003 calendar featured about 17 large photos (8"x10" or slightly smaller) and over 80 smaller to photos (sized around 1"x1" to 4"x4"). Most images posted to this forum are suitable for printing the smaller images (less than 4"x4"). Feel free to email your photos to me or Larry, but preferrably, send it to both of us. The sooner the better. If you send something, send the original unsized, uncropped digital image, and send some information about the image (location or name of the event, date of photo, year/color of prowler(s), name of owner, names of folks in the picture, etc...). I have provided this info to help improve your chances of getting a photo into the calendar. If you have good weather and a scenic location, take out your digital camera, set the resolution to high, and take some photos! Be careful to consider background and take the same picture at more than one angle. Now for the tough part.......IF THE CAR WAS A FEATURE CAR IN THE LAST CALENDAR, to be fair to others it will not make it as a feature this year .....UNLESS IT HAS HAD MAJOR MODS TO IT, TO CHANGE THE LOOK, AND IT WOULD HAVE TO A SUPER PICTURE TO BE RECONSIDERED.....we want as many car owners to be able to be in the calendar. If it was a month feature car it could end up as a thumbnail size if no change but a good picture. Now because we have some owners with multible cars, yes your other car could be included this time WE NEED A COVER TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that the time to set up the crazy horse picture and the heat we had to deal with was more than some could stand, BUT, what did you think of it as a cover? EVENT CORDINATORS, PLEASE TRY AND GET A CLEAN SHOT OF YOUR GROUP. It doesn't have to be all the cars but a good collection. Think of this when planning and pick a spot and figure how many cars you need and set it up as a function of the event PLEASE. lmayes8@insightbb.com

A few notes: (1) Submit your photos by emailing them to us here: cyr0@cstone.net;lmayes8@insightbb.com . In most cases, it is best to send just one photo per email, because photos tend to be very large files and many email accounts can only handle one large attachment at a time. (2) If you have custom mods, take close-ups of the mods. We want to see those. (3) 8x10's: For the cover and month 8x10 images, we need images that are at least this large: click here to see the image. (larger is better) (4) 2x3's and thumbnails: Here is an example of an image that is large enough to be considered for thumbnail and medium size pictures. We can take slightly smaller images for thumbnails. - Damon. This message has been edited by VirginiaCatDude on 06-23-2003 at 07:01 PM |

Bob... The resolution on your image is only 640 x 480... We need at least 1000 x 750 for printing 8x10's. To submit images this large, they must be emailed. When you load them to the POA site, they are sized down to reduce storage requirements. |

We would like to have your pictures by the end of July 2003, but will still accept them in August. The calendar will be "set in stone" in September. The sooner we get your photos, the greater the chance they will be in the calendar, so please do send them as soon as you can. If you want to reserve a calendar, then post a reply to this thread: click here . If you do not have a POA account and you would like to reserve a calendar, then email Larry and me here: cyr0@cstone.net;lmayes8@insightbb.com and let us know. If you want one or more calendars, we need to know, so that we will be able to print enough for everyone who wants one. - Damon. ------------------ This message has been edited by VirginiaCatDude on 06-23-2003 at 07:01 PM |

quote: Would you send that to me too?? - thanx. Damon. Hey folks - we are starting to get some photo submissions. I will re-emphasize one point: In addition to the full prowler with nice background, we would also like to see close-ups of your mods... If you have performance mods, open the hood and take those pics. Also, please do take close-ups of stock parts... for example if you are particularly proud of your sparkling stock wheels or dust-free interior... these are all legit photos!! |

I currently have a need for nice photos with these colors in particular: - yellow - I can use a good silver pic too... I have a good silver pic of my own car, but would rather use someone else's car if you've got a nice pic. - Also, need pics of cars with the prowler trailers. So far there have been a few, but there has not been a big response in photo submissions. |

As I have posted in the past, I have no use for a calander since I don't care what day it is but Sandy will want one, I am sure. lol. I would think the calanders would sell well on eBay and you could count on selling quite a few that way. Just a thought. |

quote: Ed.. To make this effort pay us back in money the time investment that we put into it, we would have to sell many thousands of calendars, and even then, we'd have to have a publisher and distributer, because we are not equipped to handle that volume, so obviously, it is not the money that we are doing this for. If you or anyone would like to order extras and sell them on ebay, I don't think that will be a problem on our end, as long as we stay within the capability of our printer contractor. Even if Sandy didn't want one, you should order one, because the pictures in this calendar are going to be excellent. You don't want to miss this... The calendar-printed pictures are much better quality than what the typical computer monitor can show. - Damon. |

Can I send real photos? |

quote: SHORT ANSWER: You may, but I prefer digital images. LONG ANSWER: Since you asked and because I am a very nice guy, you may, however, it is a big help if you have the prints scanned in and then email me the images. Although I can scan in prints, I am not equipped to scan in a lot of them. One more note... "scanned" prints do not come out as sharp as images that were originally digital, so there is less likelihood we will use scanned prints. To get the best quality images it is best to take the negatives to a photo shop and ask them to digitize the negatives onto a CD. Depending on the process used to convert them we may or may not get good quality 8x10 images, but we do have a need for many smaller images. As many as 80 or more smaller images will be in the calendar. If you do this, then tell the photo shop that you want high resolution images so that you can print 8x10's. Do not send me negatives. I am not equipped to convert negatives and I will not pay to have them converted. If you want to send me prints via U.S. mail, then email me and let me know and I will provide you with my address. later, |
