I'm 6'4" @ 345 lbs... will I fit? I don't even come close to fitting in the Corvettes.... any input would be appreciated if there are any "large" men out there, please let me know if there's hope.

Well I'm one of the largest I know. I'm 6'1" 330 The only way i can get in with the top up is head first. Then i put my right leg on the seat, twist and sit down. Getting out is basicly same way. Turn, kneel on seat and back out. Not easy. Thats why i really only drive with top down. Second time i drove with top up was this past weekend at the Falls. 7 hrs ride alot of wind on the highway, my wife didn't want top down, but me thats the way to go!!!Stomach can be a problem also!!!LOL In your case your taller then me, not much leg room. I could fit in Vettes, I had 3 of them 70's 80's 90's. Hope you fit!! You could always consider Bariatic Surgery!!!I have an Apointment to discuss it on the 24th. Its a severe way to go. Try going to a dealer where they have one you could sit in. Happy Hunting!!

Chuck, Think that decision over carefully. My nephew's wife had that done and had a lot of problems. Talk to the dr. and listen to his advice. Maybe even talk to two doctors. I will say this though. My neice finally is doing better now. She went through hell, but is now doing much better. She is feeling a lot more comfortable about her weight. Good luck.

My friend and his girl had this done with good results so far. http://surgicallyslim.com/ There's always Atkins. I've lost over 20lbs on the Atkins plan.

I could Post a New topic on this!!!I've been heavy my whole life. I'm not sloppy fat. I've played sports my whole life. I'm a 10 handicap golfer and could be lower if i played more. But i've lost over a 1000 lbs in my lifetime, and it always comes back! I lost 100 lbs 4 yrs ago and have put back on 50. I'm tired of dealing with it! Tried them all, they all work with exercise. I had a personal trainer every morning for a year 4 yrs ago. I have 2 obese sisters, and my brother just died a yr ago at 40, Heart Attack he was 400lbs. Ive been waiting since dec 2002 for an apointment!I went to some group meetings etc. Its not a quick decision! To me Food is evil! To some its Cigarettes, liquor. I'll talk to the Dr and see where it goes. I just heard on the news a few days ago, the biggest epidemic in this country is obesity!!!Especially in young Kids. You can't get the surgery unless your around 100 lbs overweight. Thanks for the concern and remarks its appreciated. Just thought Pig would be interested. He must be one Hell-of A Guy walking around with Pig as his name.

Thanks for the replies (re fitting).. lol.

I'm skeptical now... I did fit in a 80's vette in highschool but that was at 190 lbs, but with the additional weight, this might not work. I can't see having such a nice car and being limited as to how I can use it (top off always). CRAP.. well, I'll keep my options open. Maybe I can have them take out the seat and put a piece of carpet to sit on... heh.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

In my opinion I doubt very much you would fit with any sort of comfort or control in a Prowler. I am 6'2" 215 and have good head room and upper body room, but the leg well is tight. I can get in and out with a bit of a twisted move, but you being 2" taller and significantly heavier I would say no way. My best buddy is 6'5" 310 and he can just get in with the steering wheel all the way up and the top down... I let him drive it around the block and he had problems with the wheel hitting his legs. Have you tried a new Vette? I had a 99' before the prowler and I have to tell you they are much more roomy for sure! Good luck with what ever you pic.

Go sit in one. It really depends how you carry your weight.I have a large frame and its not all stomach. If you have little legs and a Huge Gut well then it could be a problem. Are you buying a kat for a Daily driver? If its just for fun + sunny days i think you'll enjoy it. My XKR Conv as less room behind the steering wheel then my kat.

Pig---If you really want something bad enough you'll work hard at it to achieve your goal. Think about it, will loosing 100 lbs make a difference. Or are you just too tall?If your too tall a Mercedes isn't the answer either, at least not the convertibles. You would fit in the Coupes especially the larger models. A Hummer? at least if someone gets in your way you could drive around them or over them!Glad your posting and enjoying the site. I like company, us big guys have to stick together. I used to kid around with my friends and say "your not a man unless your over 200 lbs," well that was years ago! Its increased to 300 Lbs!LOL

Pig:

Great handle. Mine in college was Tree.

I'm 6' 4" also (really pushing 6' 5"). I'm now down to 243 from 256. I have a little problem getting in with the top up. It's worth the minor aggrivation of getting in. I don't have any leg room problems, but I would if it was a true stick shift with a clutch.

Try one. I agree with CT in that your build would matter more than your weight. I could see where a shorter person with my weight would have a harder time than me.

Speaking of Atkins'protein diet plan, does it ever work!
I started off 2 years ago at 235 lbs and dropped in less than 6 months to 170(translated on my waist-from size 38 to size 30).
To answer your question, you have to try the car, obviously!
You may find the fit to be a bit too tight!

Rich:

My above post states that I'm 6' 4" and I have leg room, but a cluth would be a problem.
It may be the way I have the seat adjusted, but leg room and head room have never been a problem for me.
Getting in and out is a little challenge, but I think anyone over 5' would have a LITTLE challenge.
IT"S ALL WORTH IT!

Very interesting thread that I just wanted to add to. I am 6'4" 270, retired Master Sergeant and still work out every day. I have put on 30 pounds since retiring and cannot get it off, but I am not jumping out of planes any more either. I drove my Kat up the coast to Santa Barbara yesterday and back, round trip 500 miles. Even with cruise, I noticed my right knee in painful contact with the center console most of the day. I did a search but cannot find much information on tall guys and the Kat. I would appreciate any tips from you beanstalks out there on how to protect that knee on long trips.

After the wife delivers the twins,,,,,have her drive on the long trips and stretch your legs out from the passenger seat. JMO Sorry, I can't give you an honest answer. Short and fat are my middle names, lol.

I'm 6'3 but not quite a buck 90. The knee is good buddies with the console. I don't think there's much that can be done unless we do like the character on the cartoon show King of the Hill and have our shins blowed off

The head engineer on Team Prowler, Craig Love, is 6'4 and he owns a yellow cat. I don't know how well he fits, but he drives his cat and loves it!! His plate says "LUVSCAT"

Depends on your build and flexibiliy more than your height and weight. My Dad is about 5'6" and has a heck of a time getting in with the top up. He is about as flexible as a steel pole ...lol...

That is bad advice, A/C. lol
I cannot fit on the passenger side, period. I am totally wedged against the glove box. There is slightly less room on the passenger side. I cannot move either leg.
While driving on longer trips I use the cruise and put my right leg back toward the seat and then alternate sitting on one hip and then the other. You cannot bend both legs at the same time if you are over 6' 1", I am afraid.
That said, 35,000 great miles, almost every mile driven by me.

I'm 6'4" and 235 #'s. I just fit. Top up, a little cramped, top down (the way the car is meant to be driven) no problem.

I would say that you probably wont fit. As others have stated above though, if you want something bad enough, you'll make it happen. I simply havn't gotten drunk enough to saw 3 inches off though...

I would suggest, getting the car, waxing it, putting in the garage. Every time you want a doughnut, and extra hamberger, or some icecream, go into the garage and look at the fun you'll be missing out on.

Good luck in whatever your decision is.

I bought mine from a guy that was 6'3", and 300 lbs. He said the only reason he was selling it was that he couldn't get in, and out of it. I'm 5'11", 225lbs and fit very well in it, but still have trouble getting in, and out with the top up. I think if you do the door mods mentioned in another thread here it would help a lot. I know I'm seriously considering it myself.
