Several years back, there was an open house type of event at CAAP, and they had a huge blow-up Prowler on the front lawn of the facility. What ever happened to that? Does DC still have it? Or, has the Prowler Museum acquired it already? Just curious. If I had a scanner, I'd post a picture of it. |

That's it. Thanks for digging into your archives guys. Wouldn't it be nice if that was available for some of our big gatherings? Its just a thought - but I have no clue on where it is. Hope everyone is having fun Prowlin'! |

I think that there are several of those in existence. One of our local dealers had one in the front of their business for awhile. I will ask about it if I think of it. |

That inflatable Prowler belongs to DaimlerChrysler. Not sure what they did with it, but we can try to find out. |

If they are willing to sell it maybe we could get together and buy the thing to display at National Events. Any interest in such a venture? |

Here is one of the balloon on top of the dealership that the roadshow display was set up for Woodward Dream Cruise. They are very large balloons. Not sure how it could be transported to our events and also need the equipment necessary to inflate it! |

CJ, Just an FYI and you may already know this too ... they do compact pretty small ... not small enough for trunk of Prolwer transporting of course, but SUV, etc. and the device that inflates those and keeps 'em up isn't overly huge either but can be shipped. I delt with a company in I think Colorado called Big sky balloons ... they made any shape, size, etc. that you wanted and we shipped them all over the country for trade shows. I like the ides of getting THAT one for all the National events and stuff ... cool. |

These ballons are cool. I own 3 that I use for convenience store Grand Openings, fast food promos, etc. Got a Citgo balloon an Exxon tiger and a Mobil 1 bottle that go over good. They are not that easy to handle. They mildew EASY. Must be completely dry when stored and can't be stored in a humid area. They are hard to clean, stain easily (mildew) and fade pretty fast. They can be folded into a package of about 3' X 3', but you have a blower and a lighting package also. They must be anchored down. We had a mini blimp break a tether and the blimp was found by a farmer 15 miles away. (One of his cows had fallen in lust over it. Use you imagination) They can be shipped, but I've learned that a pickup is needed and setup is harder than you think. I use a service truck and two men to setup. Setup and takedown is hard in wind and foul weather. Bottom line - I think one would be cool for events, but it takes a committment from someone to transport, setup, babysit it and properly store one. ------------------ |

It came from East Coast Balloons. We need to find it on the internet, I guess. It is possible they were only rented by D-C, but I do not know that for a fact. |

Ed.........the company here in Michigan that has the Prowler balloons is called North Coast Balloons located in Ottawa, MI. I spoke with them a bit ago, and after I did, I realized that I worked with them before arranging balloons for some of our GM roadshows, etc. He's not heard of East Coast Balloons, but here is the info he related to me after we had some discussion. They did the balloons for Chrysler. He thinks that Chrysler owned a couple, but not sure if they still do. He says they may have traded them in on something else. They currently have a purple Prowler and a red Prowler that they own and rent out. The approximate size of the balloon is 32' long, 12 1/2' wide, 12' high. It rents for $500 per week, plus round trip shipping (or it can be picked up). They will also travel to your location and do setup, but they charge expenses. Anyone can do set up, as the rental includes the machine to inflate it. It has 4 tether points. He is going to check with the owner of the company to find out if Chrysler, does indeed, still own any of them. The balloons cost $4,000 new. He is also going to talk to the owner about selling one of the used Prowler balloons and give me a price. He will contact me tomorrow with more information. Well that makes sense since I could not find East Coast Balloons on the net. Hopefully they can come up with something for us. Thanks. I finally remembered to ask them at the dealer and I guess someone went from memory and did not remember correctly. I saw a blow up jeep in front of Kerry Dodge in Milford tonight. I will call and see where that came from. Maybe another lead for a possible Prowler balloon. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 06-25-2003 at 01:11 AM |

Called Kerry Dodge and they said they got it from North Coast balloons. Surprise, Surprise, CJ had the correct info and I was misled. I thought maybe there was more than one supplier. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 06-26-2003 at 12:29 AM |

I was just browsing the Events Scrapbook and ran across the one titled "Plymouth Prowler Concept Vehicle 2003-02-27" http://www.prowleronline.com/scrapbook/neweventview.php?id=253and saw an inflatable Prowler then did a search and came up with this thread. I am curious what if anything ever became of these? This message has been edited by alrtg on 01-29-2011 at 02:32 PM |

I remember when one of those was on Ebay several years back. At the time I thought, "who would want that humongous thing?" |
