Hey, A quick question.... I'm looking to get my first prowler but I want it in the Candy Apple Red. However, with only 300 made its been pretty hard to find one. I'm looking to spend around 35K and have been checking e-bay but have yet to see one for sale. So I was thinking that I could buy any prowler regardless of the color and just have it repainted? I was wondering how accurately the repainting would look like the actual Candy Apple Red and how much it might cost?Would there be a great loss in value to the car if I repainted it? Thanks - Adam |

I have a Candy Red #61. Its funny i really didn't want that color. I thought it was a good deal (on ebay)so i bought it. Painting costs alot of money. Just take some time, keep looking. Put Ad on POA site. You might find one. ------------------ |

AdamBomb, I would have to say repainting a car would make it depreciate.. You would also have to buy a dash insert to match the color your painting the car. I know you want a candy red.. But I do have a 2000 Yellow that I am selling for $31k. |

Adam -- Repaint would run you about $3,000 - 3,500 for a good job. I checked into it as I thought about turning my Mulholland white (I didn't do it). You would be better off waiting until the color of your choice (Candy Red) becomes available at a price you are willing to pay. Hopefully CJ will respond to your inquiry. She has a comprehensive list of Prowlers for sale. Good luck in your search. ------------------ |

To do it right start with a Black car.....all Woodwards & Black Tie start with black tub have it disassembled and repainted correctly would be much more than the 3,000~3,500 more like 10~15K the dash panel is painted to so it can be removed from the car and painted to match Now if you want a ral CANDY APPLE RED go for it. Do not worry about the value if it is what you want. But if you want to sell it in short term....I WOULDN'T DO IT ------------------ |

Check with CJ. She has a list of all Candy Reds still available. Might be able to pick one up for about the same cost as another color and a paint job. |

Hey Adam, If you are still looking for a Candy Red Prowler we need to talk. I have one that I will probably have to sell to buy the new house I put a contract on. I've been trying to find a way to keep it but I don't think I can do it. Let me know if you are still interested. Steve sweinkam@aol.com |

2 Candy apples on ebay. One has a buy it now price @ $36k and some change with low miles. I spoke with the guys in Beaverton, OR, before I purchased my silver one and they wanted at least invoice $43-44K on it or they would not sell. Their price is unrealistic with current market demand, but fear not, there are others out there willing to sell close to your price range. The hunt is part of the fun. |
