Hey everyone.. how are you all doing. I wanted to post my weekends fun. 1st let me say I saw several Prowlers on Sat morning going to the Florida gathering at the auction when I was on my way to WORK!!! Yea it really gets in the way sometimes...LOL
But on Sun. I took the Kat out to watch some road race action at the track. There was one of the bigger car clubs out there running all kinds of cool cars... well when the time came for the parade lap I said I'm in.
Those of you that may not know, on a parade lap anyone can take their car around the track... at slower speeds... ya right. I'm second in line behind what I guess is the pace (had strobe lights on it) car er SUV. Well as we take off... I imediately notice this SUV...the Porsche Cayenne Turbo just punch it... well I go for it too. It seems this is going to be an aggressive parade lap. Needless to say I dont gain on the 450+ hp Porsche SUV. Through the turns the 1st lap is aggressive but not crazy.... long story short on the 2nd and last lap well everyone gets going faster... on the exit of a big sweeping right hander before the short stright the Cayenne is moving... I am struggleing to keep pace with it in a turn no less.... then right at the exit... the Kat begins to PUSH to the edge of the track. There must have been some sand I guess..I gather it up and look at my speed.... 95 mph... and the Cayenne has pulled away.. I take it easier the rest of the way thinking about the ball joints as an after thought. But WOW what fun. That is one SUV that Porsche!!! As for the Kat.. it held it's own for me. All in all a fun day!
Oh ya one more thing... the Cayenne.. ya, it had 5 people in it!

Sounds like great fun Frank. Did you have the top off for the "race"? How exhilarating!

What a way to spend an afternoon! I guess the stories of the Prowler getting a little light in the front end around a hundred might be true.

I tried out one of the Cayennes when I picked up my 911. It looks different in person. I was expecting a much smaller vehicle. The one I drove was not a turbo but it was still very strong. Handled like a Porsche, rode like a Porsche, just does not look like a Porsche.

Frank,

I was the only Prowler at the B-J Auction on Sat... No one contacted me about going as a group.

I sent you an email with a copy of the emails I got regarding the get together.
The next time I'm going out to Moroso I'll let you know. In fact there is a chance I might go next Wed night... but probebly just to watch. Either way I'll let you know.
Take care

Top was down as always brother.... It's been perfect weather here in Fl the last week. Top hasnt been up the whole week. I drive it everyday too...

Steve
Yea, all of a sudden the front end just went light. Not out of control, just enough to slow me down. It was fun though. That Cayenne Turbo is something! But you dont need another car.... ya you wouldnt want that one...LOL
Take care

Reminds me of 1973 when I got to drive a brand new '73 Vette twice around the Indy 500 track at NCCC Convention. What a thrill!!! Anybody who ever gets the chance to do a parade lap on any kind of super-speedway should go for it. Thrills of a lifetime. 125MPH and could could let go of the steering wheel as the car was so "planted". Buddy in Texas
PS-T-Tops were off!!!

Frank.

Good Fun... I can only 2nd what the others have said. If you ever get the chance to drive around any of these speedways take the opportunity (even if you only get to go 70 mph or so).

The next KY Speedway "drive the track" event is Nov. 8th. It is 1 1/2 mile tri-oval and they host NASCAR truck and IRL events but so far not a NASCAR event. The IRL cars go about 220 on this track.

Shame on Porsche!

Humm, no ball joint problems, doesn't leak when it rains, Complete leather interior, seating for 5, and 450+ hp. Hummm.

Maybe that's why I'm on the list for one. Not sure.
