Just wondering how many of you guys/gals bought the prowler when it first came out in 1997?? How much did they cost..does anyone happen to have a picture of the sticker price?? One more question, does anyone know why the prowler reduced it's price drastically...not that i'm complaing....?

I seem to recall originally the prowler was supposed to be something like $39 or $42K.

In 97, prowler's (that I know of) went from anywhere approaching $100K to almost $150K (ah, the price some pay to be the first in line - hey, if you've got it to give away...)

Sticker prices that I am familiar with (00-02) ranged from $44K to $46K.

Prices have dropped for any number of reasons (or all combined);

1) novelty car with limited market;
2) said market saturated with them;
3) economy;
4) production ended.

When I was working the Prowler roadshow, the price I was told to quote was $39,000 plus tax and freight.

correct...97 models were $39K....no 98 models...99 models started ut at $40K(painted wheels), then the chrome wheels added another $1K for a total of $41K....2000 models were $42K....after that it got confusing, several changes in a model year on the ones I had....Prowler pricing from DC never decreased, it was the open market that deflated ....

39k was the price, along with a few thousand for a matching trailer. That's what I paid in '97. It pays to know the dealer. Still have the sticker, I could scan it if you *really* wanted to see it.

The sticker for my '02 yellow was either $44,500 or $45,400. I don't remember which. I'll pull it and let you know.

I was looking at them and they wanted $75,000.00 with there mark up. what a joke that was then in the year 2000 they were still asking that price at most dealers that had them around here.

I know that when I first looked at them (2000) the sticker was $44,000 but was told right up front that they were being sold for $50,000 take it or leave it. They all sold. When I went back to look at the 2001 in August the sticker was $46,000 but they would deal. I got mine for $41,500. Thought it was a fair price.

Alot of times though...the sticker doesn't mean that's what you paid for it, i know that when i saw my first prowler in (2000), the sticker said 40,000 and right next to it, it had another sticker saying that this wasn't the real price.....or another one that said not for sale. That's what i thought happened in 1997

You are correct, many Prowler's in 97 were going for well over 130k. I paid sticker.

I bought mine new in early 1999 for sticker... but it was hard to find a good price... the '99 yellows were selling for 50-60k in FL. I have the original sticker too. The dealer I bought it from was cool, he wrote the car up for $36k and the matching trailer for $8k so there was no Lux Tax.
