I ordered an extra when I bought my car. I remember that it wasn't too much and they can program it at any dealer. JRL |

They are available through any Chrysler dealer. The owners manual tells how you can program it yourself. |

quote: Repeated from another post: I paid about half that ($19.20) for one for GRROWL (2000) last August from John Youngblood with no tax, no shipping charges (also bought a later-model key, with the cat engraved in the plastic head, for $7.50 which includes cutting if you give them the car's serial number). Give them a call at 1-800-725-6021, they're GRReat to work with. You might also want to try allprowlerparts, he's very competitive and helpful to the POA. -GRROWL P.S. - you just need to get the right one for the model year. There is a setup procedure that I posted previously. If you can't find it, repost and we'll take care of you. |

quote: If you get a new remote, you need to program the car to accept it. The procedure requires ALL active remotes to be entered. The one the former owner has will then not work (The key is another story.) BTW, I received 2 regular keys PLUS the valet key with GRROWL (2000). BTW, BTW, WELCOME! -GRROWL |

If you're looking on Ebay or otherwise used, suggest you make sure you get the right model remote. GRROWL and my wife's PT Cruiser were manufactured within weeks of each other, and although the remotes look identical, they are not interchangeable (I confirmed this by trying to reprogram both cars and it didn't work). The dealer said (subject to verification) that Chrysler and Plymouth used different transmitter codes and that the Plymouth Prowler was different than the Chrysler Prowler. SOOooo, here's a trivia question: Do the newly discovered 2000 Black Ties, manufactured with the 2000 Plymouths, use the same code as a 2000 Plymouths or do they use the Chrysler code since they were titled as Chrysler? |

quote: I assume that you're saying that your silver prowler is a Plymouth? (in 2001, there were both Plymouth and Chrysler silvers.) IF they have the same code, you wouldn't need to SACRIFICE one from the PT (I was trying to cross-code the two cars so that they would each respond to the same 4 remotes). Look at the codes on the back of the transmitters - my PT's ends in "AC", the Prowler's ends in "AD". If they match, search here for the setup procedure or just ask and we'll find it for you. |

quote: Sounds like you have the same situation that I have with two different transmitters. I doubt very much that AB or AC will work on the opposite car. You can always try, but your best bet may be to find another transmitter for the Prowler. After that, the car setup procedure is posted here, just ask if you need help finding it. Sorry. -GRROWL |

BTW, just to cause some trouble (how atypical of me), when I was last at Chrysler service, I noticed a box on the floor in the corner that must have had 200 keys and transmitters in it. My guess is that these are all the "lost" or "replaced" keys and transmitters that are not matched up to cars, and I would think that there's a "junk box" like this at every dealer. If you're REAL NICE to your service advisor, and you mention that your car only came with one transmitter, . . . . . -GRROWL |
