Building a new garage for the Kat and respectfully request that some of you who are proud of your garage floors, walls, cabinets, etc. would attach a pic. For those that have garage pics in the scrapbook, I've viewed those. Would I steal any ideas? Damned straight. Thanks in advance. |

Been working on my garage for about a year, just about have it complete. Suggest painting the floors, I used an epoxy floor paint and it is really tough. Also suggest at least a 10' ceiling and if you can make it higher I would. Here's a few picture of my project. |

If you plan on installing ( a must for me ) a four post drive-on type lift I would suggest a 12' ceiling in that area. Al |

SSSydow, this is Prowlergirl's mom. We live just down the street from you in NW Plano. Here is a photo of part of our garage that we added on about 2 years ago. It's not a very good photo, but if you are interested in taking a closer look, let us know and we will make it available for you to look at. |

Great and timely topic for me. I'm gonna be building a new home and toy box next summer and have been collecting ideas for a 4 car garage with an office/doghouse over it. Any other tips like height, width of bays, accomodations for a lift, drain pit, lighting, electrical, HVAC, walls/ceiling materials, etc. ------------------ |

ProwlerGTS I know how you feel. As the "Second Poorest Prowler Owner" I must share space with my wife's Geo Metro convertible and my only other car, a Hyundai Accent, sets outside! The best part is I have an easy decision to make when the weather is nice - it's the Prowler, not the Viper, Lambo, etc. :-) |

DearKM, Is that a ZL16(?) or whatever the code was for the 65 396 SS Chevelle? I am not a big GM guy but the 64-65 Chevelles were nice. Worked at a lot when I was in high school and a new 65 Chevelle SS convertible came in and I was blown away. It had a black top & interior, Irish (purple) paint with 325 HP 350 and 4 speed!!! Also silver is the best color for Prowlers. ------------------ |

Here's my garage addition for the Prowler. It's designed not only for housing the Cat, but also my machine shop in the back. It is 14' wide x 40' deep with a 14' ceiling, and is heated in the winter. As you can see, it is a functional garage, not just a show place. There are 2' feet of snow in front of the 12' high garage door right now, so the Cat is trapped till spring. ------------------ |

quote: blubyu, No my Chevelle is not a Z-16, I wish it was, GM only made 201 Z-16's in 1965. This was the first year they put a big block (396) in the Chevelle. But, my 65 has alot of sentimental value for this was my first car. I still enjoy driving it every chance I get... This message has been edited by DEARKM on 03-01-2003 at 09:59 PM |

quote: We get a lot of hot sun in the summer and garage doors are a major concern, insulated doors are a way to go. Consider where you may want your electrical outlets. We wanted some in the middle of the garage so therefore before they put down the cement we ran conduit in PVC to our desired spots, beats having to run an extension cord later on. Would you believe paneling could be cheaper to install than sheet rock and I believe it gives the garage a little bit of class (the kat loves it ). We subcontracted all our garages and Pat and I did all the interior work, saved a bunch of money. I hope this helps on your new garage. We did put a lot of fluorescent lighting in the ceiling. One more thing we wish we went with a higher ceiling for a lift. ------------------ New pictures in Personal Scrapbook (02/23/03) |
