This was on a D.C. TV station, but I would think it would work throughout the country. You can get 1 free CarFax report (seems to be per computer) at: About half-way down the middle column, under "Online Extras" click on "Get A Free Carfax Vehicle History Report". They ask for a zip code, so it might be useful to know that a random one local to the TV station is 22182. The report I received was 10 pages. I'd be interested to know if this works anywhere. -GRROWL |

Checked out my '97 and it came up clean as expected. Took less than one second to run and display. I couldn't believe it. Thanks for lead. |

When shopping for a couple of used Ferrari's I used CarFax extensively for about 2 months. During that time, we ran across a couple of cars that we knew had had serious problems. Both CarFax's came back clean. Another we knew had serious odometer rollback. It too came back clean. It seems only REPORTED wrecks (and even then, not 100% sure) are showing up. If someone wrecks a car and doesn't report it, no history of it. Buyer beware! Also, if someone buys a used car with 10K worth of miles on it, that is reported but, if they proceed to put another 50K worth of miles on it and then roll the odometer back to say 12K before they sell it, no one knows about it and to CarFax nothing is wrong because 12K is greater then 10K. All I'm saying is, CarFax is a nice tool but, don't bet the farm on it when buying a car. Always have a trained professional go over the car tooth and nail. This can usually be done for under $200 and it checks things like compression on each cylinder (which CarFax doesn't). |

Wouldn't work for me. I wanted to run a report on my 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury but it gave me an error message. I suspect because the VIN is only 13 digits. ------------------ |

quote: What do the dates indicate? Service at a dealer? Oil change place? Contact the place you were at on 1/4/2002 and let them know this was a mistake. Short of that, CarFax strikes again. |
