Today D/C called to inform me that they are buying my silver '01 back! I have had five sets of front shocks in less than 19,000 miles. They do not know why mine is the only one with this problem, so the are going to releive me of this situation. It has been really nice to meet everyone, and hope you all have a great year. Thanks for everything! -Hodge |

My 01 Black Tie has the fronts leaking now, they will be replaced. Why not opt to have them get you another Kat? This is what I did with a problem Orange I had. The new Orange is wonderful, 15K of smile miles on her. ------------------ |

Just replaced the left rear shock on my Dad's 2002 Candy Red. <3000 miles! Seems like this is a problem. How many others have replaced shocks? |

Hodge: Hope the shock problem doesn't totally sour you on Prowlers. Maybe take the cash and try one more? ------------------ |

Did not really sour me on Prowlers, loved it. I just had numerous problems in 18 months. Although I had lots of fun and will miss it, I will not buy another. |

you could easily pick up a new Kat for 35K or so, why not call around and get a deal and pocket the extra 10K? ------------------ |

They have not made me an offer, but according to the District rep. they will give me a prorated allowance based on mileage. Anyone know how much they deduct per mile? They said that they will get with me within two weeks. |

Hodge, I have a 2000 with almost 50,000 (s)miles. No problems with shocks. If you enjoyed the KAT as much as we have and do, you ought (yes, it's in Webster's) to rethink getting another. Buy a 2000, they have the Koni shocks. ------------------ This message has been edited by JUST JP on 02-27-2003 at 05:41 PM |

Just wanted to let all know by mom that DC has a new part number for front shocks. It had to do with the vendor. They had problems with a few batches. Mom had to have her's replaced after 700 miles on the front from leaking. also they must be intalled 100% correctly not to leak. no room for error.

Our 2000 is going in to have our fronts replaced also. Started leaking and left a huge mess on the underside frame area - grease everywhere. Have 8,000 on ours. Hopefully it will be just this set and that will take care of it!! Tami |

quote: Hodge, Lemon law typically works from 100,000 miles. They refund what you paid minues what percentage of the 100k you have driven. So 10,000 miles would be 10%. My assumption would be to look for something like that. Best of luck wherever you end up. ------------------ |

Actually that's not true as I've personally had a car successfully "lemon lawed" You should receive EVERY DOLLAR, insurance, interest, everything, back EXCEPT for prorated milage. Usually the figure these days, and it varies from state to state, is around 30 cents per mile. Jim |

Oh, Hodge, By the way if DC doesn't offer you all that I mentioned, get a lemon law lawyer. They take their fee from the manufacturer. Jim |

Great, yet another thing to watch out for on these cars..LOL! Hodge, I've had 3 and had problems with all three. The entire top had to be replaced on my current one with only 150 miles on the OD. Now at 400 miles, the dash has started a wicked rattle and sqweeking sound and of course the roof leaks (only when I wash it though as the vehicle never sees rain). She is kinda the black sheep of our car fleet but, I love it qwuirks and all. |

I've had problems and continue to have problems, with all my 5, the 6th was lemon lawed. However, as long as I have a dealer within an hour drive each way (which is how far I have to drive now) they are still worth it to me, flaws and all. ------------------ |

Why not get another Kat? Farewell and good luck. My 2001 Mulholland had front shocks replaced at 9K mi. Now at 17K mi with no further problems. It was my understanding that 97-00 kats used Koni shocks. 01-02 have shocks from "Dynamic Suspension" which are prone to leak. |

thanks for all of the support. For everyone's questions about the shocks, they are using Koni again! My '01 originally had the Dynamic Susp. shocks. After three failures they installed new Koni's. Regardless, they all have leaked at some point or another! I should know within two weeks how much I am getting! |
