I have seen posts recently where people say that their car is "#_____ of ______". Are all Prowlers numbered in this way, or is that only for the limited edition paint schemes? Is this info coded into my VIN number somehow??? Don't really care, just curious... |

The VIN numbers for the Prowlers are intermixed with those of the Vipers. What you are seeing, I think, is the special series cars like the Woodward that were actually numbered by Dr. Ru as he pinstriped them. You can get close to the production sequence with the MDH on the door for the regular kats, but it will not give you an actual sequence number. |

Also, some people think if their VIN ends in 0005 that they have # 5 of a run, but in reality their car could it could be number 1 or number 786. There really is no way to tell until we get every number, including Vipers registered and I don't think that will be happening. |

Dave Mills is right.....for example, my Woodward is # 130 of 150. This number is visible on the pin stripe in the centerline of the trunk above the license plate. Pretty neat. |

So, I can read Dr. Ru on the inca gold striping and a dash, but no numbering, this sound right? The MOH is 082414. |

No numbering on the Inca is correct. |

Ed is right, the VIN # is not the "production number". However, you can determine what # your car is (or at least get really close). My car is #86 (1997, no ru pinstriping here). If you know anybody on the inside at DC, and I'm sure people on this forum do, you can easily track this info down. Use the VIN and the MDH to determine when the car came off the line. From there it's a simple matter of counting. DC does keep records of these things... There are always possibilities where several cars came off the line the same hour, but even given that, you'd be pretty close. In my case, 2 Prowlers were built the same hour and day. Mine has a lower sequence number. According to Chrysler, they normally build cars on any given day in sequence. They don't necessarily build in sequence from day to day, just during the same day. That being the case, my car is either 86 or 87, but the DC guy's opinion is that mine is 86. Sharing VIN sequences with with Viper's is not an issue. ------------------ |

Mean, please note my "sign-off" in the third post on this thread. I do not want any responsibility for further brain cell depletion on this issue.... Say, do any of those VIN numbers spin when you brake the car to a stop???? |

Mojo, do you think that is true for all the Prowlers or just the 97's when there were so few produced? |

quote: I would think it's true of any car they or any other car manufacturer produces. Car companies keep records. They don't just spit cars out like Oreo's. Getting someone to look it up for you is the hard part. I have a distant relative that works for Chrysler that researched mine. I also had some help from one of the members of the POA, but can't remember who it was. If that person reads this, maybe they'll come forward and help out. ------------------ |
