Steve - some dealers are sitting on them, thinking they will still bring $50,000 plus. Think they are waiting for a lottery winner to come in,lol. I know of two new in Az that the dealership owners use as their personal car. |

Steve, Some dealers still have NEW 2000's. Here are some of the reasons they still have them. 1) They were originally asking $50-60-70K+ for these cars and now since the market appears to be mid 30's, they are stuck. A couple of dealers told me they would just buy the car at that price and keep it till they could sell it for $60K again. 2) The market has run it's course. While a fun car, the reality is, this is not a practical or everyday car (for most). They leak, they barely fit two adults, there is NO trunk, etc. Not very practical if you can only afford 1 daily driver. 3) It still is a draw. A few dealers want to keep one on the showroom floor just to draw people in to look at, well, minivans. While the wife and kiddos look at the minivan, dad can daydream about the hotrod. 4) The economy. People cut back on frivolous things when times are not so good. The prowler is a frivolous car. |

quote: I disagree. My car has never leaked. There is plenty of room for two adults. There is a trunk. I packed mine for a 4 day trip to Woodward and had room to spare, including car cleaning goodies. yes, but most people who can afford one also have kids, thus, they have to have it as a second car, which then rules out most people... add in the factor that it was never advertised well, and most people thusly still have NO clue what these are, or who makes them, they never HEARD of a Prowler. ------------------ |

They leak? I've been a cat addict for 3 years and this is the first time I've heard this one. Are ya sure ya tightened the drain plug when ya changed oil? |

Also, a lot of people still think that the price is in the $80,000 range and that there is a 2 or 3 year waiting list. It happened again tonight at the same gas station, "What kind of car is that? That's the first one I have ever seen in person". I go to the same small gas station for every fill up except when we are on the road and I still get the question EVERY time. As Cool Hand Luke said, "What we have here is a failure to communicate". Actually the sheriff said it first. |

I don't know if they leak or not, the kat's never been out in the rain but lets face it people they're not very practical. As toys they're a lot of fun but as a daily driver, well, I don't think so, at least not here in the northeast and probably not if you're over 30 or so. JRL |

I didn't buy mine for practicality and I don't know anyone who did. I bought it because I loved the look and the feel I get when I'm driving it. Like CJ says, either you get it or you don't. Tami This message has been edited by TKFischer on 10-22-2002 at 09:24 PM |

I drove our Prowler as my daily driver for 2 years before I got my Vette and it wasn't to bad as a daily driver, but it definitly leaks like a sieve in the rain. Of course once my husband told me it had a top the rain wasn't so bad!!! |

I bought this car because I liked the way it looks. If I could afford it I would also have a 2002 Viper next to my Prowler. I am very thankful I own a Prowler, it is and will be a very rare car to have. Theres nothing like it! |

I agree TK, this is a car you have to want to own. The three questions I get almost where ever I go: 1. What is it? 2. How much did it cost? 3. How fast does it go? My Vette never got that much attention! ------------------ |
