Was thinking about moving down to FL, was wondering your opinion on what part would be best to live in. We have 2 children ages 6 and 4, so school must be good. Thank You for your time and help. Fredd |

Clearwater/St Petersburg. City enough but not too crazy. Great school districts, great beaches, cost of living not too high. I've lived here for 32 years and have loved it! |

It is much hotter on the west coast of Florida. Not to mention, we are a lot more fun. |

I have to vote for the Tampa Bay area. Which covers Tampa, Clearwater, Saint Petersburg, Largo or Palm Harbor where I'm at. They're all good and close to the ocean but still close enough to visit Orlando, Miami and Daytona Beach. It's not too big of a state but still a lot of fun. I don't kow about the schools though. Good Luck!! |

Jupiter is a nice city. Not too big but close enough to everything. I don't live there but have some friends and relatives there. |

I live in Palm Beach Gardens which is the next city south of Jupiter and just north of West Palm Beach on the east coast. I have grown up here. It is on the ocean to just inland. It is a very nice area that is beautifully kept and is full of families as well as some retirees. The west coast seems to have more retirees in general, but not everywhere. I think you can't go wrong with anything in the surrounding area here. Even a little further north is nice too. Generally the further south you go on the east coast the more populated it is. Florida is a beautiul state though... where ever you go you'll be happy I'd bet. My 2 cents worth. ------------------ 94' Mustang Cobra(Power Trip) 00' Trans Am WS6 Ram Air(Her car) 02' Excursion 4x2 Diesel(Our Beast!) |

You may consider Parrish, FL. In the "middle" of all the action. Tampa is 30 minutes, Clearwater/St. Petes is 20 minutes, Sarasota is 15 minutes away. Orlando is an hour and Daytona Beach is 2 hours. The nice thing I find about Parrish, is that it isn't tourist life. If you want the tour treats, it's a very quick drive there. State Road 64 is also a booming area, lots of new schools and new communities are going in (9 are currently planned). A good community is www.foxbrook.net -- I am lot #136 still to be built. My Uncle is a real estate agent in the area as well if you are looking to talk to another person about the area. Hope this helps, -Ben |

All the action and culture is on the south East coast. Palm Beach to Boca Raton. Boca has great schools for kids since most schools in FL suck. Jupiter - Stuart area (North of Palm Beach) is a little less busy. But if your young (under 55 yrs old) and want culture then the southeast coast is for you. Most of FL is retirement communities and urban sprawl with little planning. The beachs on the south east coast don't have the white sand like the west coast of FL, but the beachs & communities are nicers (there are no tacky t-shirt & towel shops every 200 ft). Plus the water temps are warmer too! South East Coast is the place to be! ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 10-19-2002 at 09:42 AM |

I agree with all the locations that have been posted above. You want to go anywhere but Orlando. We have bad traffic here. There are several amusement parks that bring millions more people here every year on vacation. We have bad traffic here. The beaches are less than an hour away, if traffic isn't too bad. We have bad traffic here. The weather is always nice, except for the occasional tropical storm that may pop up. We have bad traffic here. Orlando is centrally located so both coasts are not too long of a drive, if traffic is not bad. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is bad traffic here. They are expanding I-4. They are expanding the East-West expressway They are expanding literally every damn road here. And when they get done, they are going to have to start all over again because by then, the growth will have overtaken the roads again. So... for the love of God... stay away from Orlando... please!!!! The above is just an exaggeration. Traffic is bad here but not that bad. Its like playing Russian Roulette when I leave in the morning. Sometimes it takes me 15 min to get to work and sometimes over an hour. But it is usually because of the stupid f'n rubberneckers in their stupid f'n cars who will not mind their own stupid f'n business. Orlando is a fine place to live. But before you move down here, make sure you meet the requirments: Anyway... enough of my ranting, I am going to go get in my car and play Russian Roullette as I journey to the new upscale mall they just built here. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

Love FL, but miss the mountains. I have been here 15 years, the first 12 in the heart of South Beach (Miami Beach) and I am now in Vero Beach. Six months after the birth of my daughter we knew we had to get out of there to somewhere safe. We searched EVERY place between here (1 1/2 hours north of Palm Beach - 2 hours southeast of Orlando). Virtually no crime to speak of and a sense of security I had never experienced before. I am not sure what line of work you are in or the budget you have set, but the barrier island here in Vero Beach should be considered. I am also a licensed Real Estate Broker, if I can be of any assistant please call - 772-231-5116. Good Luck. |
