I sincerely regret that I'm unable to attend the Crusin' the Coast Races today. I've not only let myself down, but also a lot of my Prowling Friends that came all the way to see the races. Yesterday, I had my car race ready except for the slicks. My new garage has a new two post lift which makes it so much easier to change tires than using a floor jack and doing it wheel by wheel, or so I thought. I lifted the car up to a comfortable roughly waist high level and proceeded to change the front wheels to racing "skinnies". All is well at this point. I moved to the rear wheels and as I lifted the first wheel down to the ground, I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. I then sat down for a while thinking it would go away and it just got worse. I went to my doctor who referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and he wanted me to get an MRI on my back. As it turned out, I ruptured a disc in my lower back. He gave me an epidermal/cortisone back injection and some pain and anti-inflammatory medication and sent me home with instructions to relax for the next two weeks. I'm in terrible pain today, but am told that the shot should give me some relief in a couple of days. Once again, I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone that went to No Problem Raceway to see me race. ------------------ |

I just knew the above post was coming: "next year have Alley Cat change those tires for you" Todd - you are absolutely right, this is all my fault and I personally feel terrible about it. I should have been there on the job,,,,,,yelling at Mike Gatlin to get the racing tires on the 'world's fastest Prowler' I accept full responsibility for this unforunate accident in the museum garage and hope Mike K. will not hold this incident against me in the future. I also feel badly for Judy,,,,sacrificing a nice vacation and the loving, cuddly companionship of her husband. Please forgive me Judy and please don't let Ed know of this accident. Mike - GET WELL SOON, and I'll make it up to you my friend. We'll get the fast cat into the low 11's next year. Being a med school drop-out, if your doctors need another opinion on your condition, feel free to have them contact me. I know the structure of the back bones in every detail,,,,,,,,,,that's where the fillet mignon comes from! Talk to you soon,,,, AC |

Man that really sucks Mike I can only imagine how pumped you must have been to get racing, it's those silly little not even thinking anything could happen incidents like that that end up putting us out of commission hopefully for you not to long I'm sure "YOU'LL TAKE THE DOC'S ADVICE AND REST" and don't worry about AC as I write this post there are a Group of H.D's thundering down to have let's say a little chat with the Alley Cat about his performance around your shop, ED will agree with me on this one he's "All talk no action" This last portion of the message was paid for by the committee to get ED the museum job at Mike's garage Get well soon my friend.. quote: FYI PK - Ed's application for the position was thrown out when the report came back that he had two felony convictions for armed robbery and four pending trials for failure to pay income tax. I think the committe ought to spend it's time more productively in finding a new home for Ed in Cananda. Now you know why he is lobbying for a Canada national Prowler event. |

Mike, I hope you are feeling a little better by now. We all missed you and were shocked to hear what happened. Personally I have a sneaky suspicion you were afraid to race against the "Little PT that Couldn't". I was flying, man. You should have seen it. Quit laughing, you could hurt your back. 5 Cylinder Usher was limping behind me, at the end of the day. Get well and see you at the next event. It was nice talking to you Friday evening. |

Mike - by the time I listened to Judy's voice mail message, you had already reached Laddie so I did not return the call. When we talked Friday evening, it sounded like the pain killers were working. Hope your back is healing. Ed - even with only 5 cylinders - check the time slips - my 15.3 on 5 pistons with out nitrous is still quicker. You need to cut a hole in the floorboard and use your feet like Fred Flintstone. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 10-14-2002 at 05:08 PM |
