You may think this sounds crazy but peanut butter (creamy) will work.

Apollo232,

I've never had to do what you are asking, but I have used this product . It seems to have worked for me in the past. but then again, how do you know the wax is off?

Best of luck and welcome.

regular lighter fluid will take it off. It will take the wax off of the paint, too, if you are not careful. Use a Q-tip to do the edges. SERIOUSLY, it works. It is great for getting greasy spots off of clothes since it is basically very close to dry cleaning fluid. I have used it to get the white junk off of the black rubber.

Mother's Back to Black or Meguire's #40. I like the Meguire's better but it doesn't do well in water (washes off). The Meguire's has a lower gloss to it.

This is not a joke! Yes we have used it on the vinyl winddeflector and the rubber around the windows on the PT when we got some wax on them, nothing else worked but peanut butter did. We have also tried it on the rubber/vinyl bumpers on some of our other vehicles and it does a good job. Maybe it is the oil ? ? ? We tried other products, but the wax residue would show up again after a few minutes, but with the peanut butter, it is gone.

But the way, I like your scrapebook... May I ask where you had the Supercharger install and what the costs are?[/QUOTE]

Thanks. Which car are you referring to?

Just the inquesting mind, is the peanut butter Crunchy or Smooth?? Peter Pan or Skippy. Both go well with jelly also and a pickle of course. I've eaten many in the car but the wax was still there, was I suppose to put the peanut butter on something other that the bread??? LOL

Smooth (creamy, no nuts, plain)

Jif, although Skippy works as well.

No pickles, but jelly (grape) is a nice compliment.

Instructions on how to apply:

Open jar, make sandwich and eat it first. Then remove approximately 1/4 oz of peanut butter with a spoon. Put the peanut butter on a clean (no jelly) rag, apply to area concerned by rubbing in small circular motions. Once the peanut butter has completely covered the affected area, wipe with a clean soft rag (by eating the sandwich earlier you won't be tempted to lick it off).

Seriously though, it works - try it . . .

Here is another great tip. Next time - don't use wax. Use Protect All. It won't stain the black and will protect it. It is also good for everything on the car (well, I haven't tried the top...). It works GREAT on the wheels too

This topic was on the Mercedes web site and the following response was given about peanut butter /peanut oil on old wax build up.

Norm, Here's everything I can find.

At the risk of sounding bizarre I will offer a solution. Got this from a
detailing guy. Peanut butter. Obviously the smooth kind. It works. It
must be
the oil. The only problem is that squirrels will follow you down the
road.
Try it.

I called Griot's and they confirmed the use of peanut butter/oil as a substitute.
