I find myself not traveling as much BECAUSE I do not like leaving my prowler outside of a motel. Has anyone had a problem with this? BILL 2002 GOLD & CANDY APPLE RED |

Yep, me too. I'd love to attend a Prowler event, but the thought of leaving my Kat outside makes me hesitant. Kevin ------------------ |

If that is the case, what is the point of having it? Seriously! It is still just a car. That is similar to guys who never drive it. Why have it? If that was just a rhetorical question, I am sorry I answered truthfully. How many cats have you heard about getting damaged at a Prowler get together? |

I'll answer you Ed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NONE!!! I've never heard of any damage done while a Prowler owner has attended a organized Prowler event. I have heard of 'one' owner having some damage done while being out alone, but look at those odds,,,,,,,,,,say 10,000 cat owners reprsenting how many nights on the road in a hotel/motel parking lot??? OK, small number but the fact remains of me just hearing of 'one' situation and that not being at a POA event function. I'd say the odds are with you. Ask the hotel personnel if you can park in the front, near the office area, in a well lighted spot, and explain why. JMO |

I've been to most of the events and have never had a problem. Some hotels have security patrols of some kind. Even at the ones who don't, I've never had a problem and have not heard of anyone who did. Roped off parking is usually arranged at the event hotels and we just have not experienced any damage. On our way to Colorado, John Schulz and Bob and I parked the cats in the hotel parking lot under lights. While we were doing this, the security patrol car came by and she said that she would spend the night by our vehicles to keep a special eye on them............we were very grateful and they were fine. I just drove down to Cincy for the parade and I stayed at a hotel that night by myself. I parked the cat under a parking lot light and I did cover it with my car cover. I had no problems. Please don't let that be a worry to you and prevent you from attending these events. You're missing out on a whole lot of fun!!! |

Bill, When I first got my Kat was also reluctant to go out of town, same reasons that you might have. After feeling restricted from going away on weekends I tried what Alley Cat said to do, I asked the Hotel manager if I could part out front, once he saw the car he said sure and picked the spot, right out in front and under the lights.(manager moved his car) He even told me they would have night manager keep an eye on it. Kat was well watched. Now when I make reservations I check about parking and make parking arrangements in advance (If possible) However, even with out arrangements I have not let car keep us from weekend getaways. Hope you find a way to get over it. I am glad I did. Dan G. |

I feel the same as most of the above responses. The Prowler is a special car, but still to me - cars are meant to be driven. One of the great surprises of owning a KAT has been the fun we have had and freinds we have made at Prowler events. Although I certainly respectg people's rights to do what they want with their own cars, if I did not drive mine when & where I felt like going, I wouldn't own it. Happy Prowling Marty |

1) I think people respect the car more than we think. vandalizing it may be the last thing people think of...(I hope!) 2) I get a little nervous leaving it unattended with the top down, but I am getting over that! 3) I agree with the notion that you should not be too nervous about the car....It's bad Mojo. |

Sorry if I inadvertently offended someone. I did not mean to imply POA events were any more or less "secure". I am a new owner (June). The vehicle represents a fulfilled dream, and a HUGE investment for me and my family. I want to take care of it the best way I can. It has always been my intention to enjoy the car — and the great people associated with it . This post has helped me realize that (oh my God, here it come...) Ed is right, and it IS only a car, one meant to be enjoyed. Again, please accept my apology if my hesitation came across as anything more than fear of the unknown. I appreciate your patience as I get acclimated to the Prowler experience. Yours on the road, Kevin ------------------ |

Not to scare anybody, but Joe Radowsky had his top slashed while his car was parked at a hotel overnight for an event. As for me personally, my girlfriend hates to ride in the Prowler for an extended amount of time. So when we do travel, it is in one of the other cars. Unfortunately, that also includes if we decide to go to the big event next month, as it will be without the Prowler. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

I make no special arrangements for parking my car at a Hotel/Motel. I just ususally park as close to my room as possible and still be in a place where not many cars will be parking next to me. I am more concerned about accidental damage than vandalism. I have never had damage in a parking lot I wish I could say the same about on the road travel. But its too much fun going to these events to stop and so far nothing has happened that cannot be fixed. Knock on Wood |

To me it's not the possible damage at the hotel but all the miles I would put on the car and the potential for chipped/cracked windshields (I seem to attract this alot on freeways) and road debris flying up. Most of my driving is local and around town and I have a blast with that. Can drive it all day and only put 25-30 miles on it. |

jkburns..........no one took offense at your statements. You were expressing legitimate concerns. I was only trying to say that at the events, we make every effort to circumvent any problems. Heck, I even leave my car parked at shopping malls with the top down (no valuables left out in the open) and I've never had a problem. These cars are a huge investment for all of us, so we understand your hesitation. I agree with Black Tie 161, that the majority of people respect the car and are just curious. Bill, that's not to say something can't happen, like to Mr. Radosky, but I think that is not the norm. It's also why we have insurance! It's a shame your girlfriend doesn't care to ride long distances in the cat! It fine to attend events without it (I've done it several times), but it sure is more fun when you have it!! Maybe she could drive a different vehicle and follow you to the event, just riding in the cat when you get there! jk..........jump in and try it once.........you'll love it! |

I always take my cover with me and cover it up at night without any problems. If folded "just right" it can be put behind the drivers seat with the seat being adjusted only one "notch" forward... cozy, but I won't leave home without it if I am spending a night out. Kevin, it is pretty difficult to insult people on this site just because you disagree with them. I was not trying to insult you or your reasons for being careful. I think all of us were more cautious at first and became more relaxed or lax later. I think the potential for damage is higher at a cruise-in where kids tend to climb on the car to look into it. If your car is parked, a lot of eyes are going to be on it so a potential vandal would have a tough time being secretive, in my opinion. My theory is that I could have a stroke later today and not be able to drive. I already had one heart attack and A/C usually raises my blood pressure. lol. I intend to enjoy it while I still can enjoy it. I take care of the car and I hope it lasts me a loooooong time but it does not give me pleasure to have it sitting in a garage all the time. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing. |

The car attracts a lot of attention, not always the kind you want. Regardless of where you take it, people seeing it, and having the ability to get to it, will often do so. Not everybody wishes you well with an exotic. Don't leave it where you can't watch it. |

I got a phone call Monday evening from my brother-in-law. My younger sister (age 51) found out she has breast cancer. You never know when you will get sick, injured or die. That is why my philosophy is to live and enjoy it now. Tomorrow may be too late. This is not a practice run at life, this is the last time you will be here on earth. Tomorrow is one year since almost 3000 of us left this earth, and I am sure all of them had a lot to still look forward to. Use your car and leave it to your kids with at least 75,000 miles on it. I am not suggesting taking stupid chances but you can be so careful and paranoid that you miss out. Skip the expressway and stop and smell the roses. Say a prayer for my sister Mary Jo. Thanks. |

jk---I felt the same way you do until I made one the POA events. I found the majority of the people around were more interested in asking questions about the KATS then doing damage to them. I now have no problem with going to a hotel and spending a night. As was stated I try to park as close to my room as possible and in a very lighted area. I also use a cover when out on the road and staying at a hotel. |

Kev, I was really apprehensive about leaving my Kat out at night also, and even now-so with the new paint job, but I've never had a problem. I am trying to coordinate 24 hr. security for the Cruise to the Woods though just to put everyone more at ease. Should know more by this weekend. Prowler |
