I just got an email from "Tom E. Gift" entitled "Tonneau Covers For Our Kats" No alert from Norton but don't know if I should open it or delete it. Anybody ever hear of such a product, or the sender?

I rec'd the same email. Seems we (POA folk w/valid email addresses) have been added to some sort of mailing list....I rec'd an unsolicited email from the travel agency handling the 2003 event as well. Have rec'd 2 or 3 others in the last several months. One of the drawbacks of having our email addresses in the registry, unfortunately. |

I got it as well. Wondered when someone was going to think of that. Seems like a decent deal, great Idear. Debating on weather to get one. ------------------ |

Your just lookin for a virus if you open an e-mail from someone you don't know. Not worth it. |

Why doesn't that person just post their product here for all of us to see? The Vipers have a cover like you describe, and is very functional. |

I like the cover, but dont like the design of the cat on it. I would still get one but the price is too high. My thoughts... |

Received e-mail on cover and opened it. Nice but no cigar. Server has its own firewall and Nortons is updated weekly. Have not had a virus come through in over 2 1/2 years. I'm lucky but also very well designed. If you want a copy of the email again e-mail me and I will forward one back to you. |

Well for future reference its Tom E. Mills for those of you who have not met him yet. Really nice guy and i heard he does great work. He was also the guy that helped me with getting all the secret info about our suspension. AS for the cover that is actually a good price. My uncle does custom covers like that. And most of the covers are atleast $400 after material and labor costs. Im curious to see how it snaps down though and the set up time as well. Jason ------------------ |

We got the same and when I looked at it I was a little concerned about using it and a shower comes up - I know probably wouldn't happen, but being in legal I look at all aspects. I had one for my Triumph and it was raised in the center and front so any water would go back over the trunk area. This one looks like it sags in the middle and I also agree - not thrilled with the cat design on it. Tami |

Jason, I think you are thinking of the wrong person. Tom E Gift not Mills lives in the Northern California area and we have been waiting to see the cover in person at one of our Northern California events. So far we haven't seen him. He appeared very interested in our group when he contacted me several months ago and I passed on the Web sites I thought would be of interest to him. Maybe now we know why. Not passing judgement at this time but Tom has had plenty of opportunities to come to one of our events. Hopefully we will see him soon and will be able to comment on his product. |

quote: I had one from the factory installed on my 2002 Porsche. It was a pain to put on and take off, required about 10 holes be drilled in the car in various places (including the dash) and flapped around at speeds above 50. This design (from the tiny pictures) looks even worse. My vote is no. p.s., you can remove your email address (or not have it shown to anyone) so you don't get spam email. I got a couple from a travel agency (don't ask...) so I made it where my address was not visible anymore. |

This still would not protect the mirror, etc. in case of rain. I only see it as a protection from sun and prying fingers while parked; otherwise, car cover is quick and covers the entire kat. |

quote: You are correct, this type of cover is not to protect from rain. The cover may not even be waterproof. Most have a zipper so you can leave the passenger seat area covered while driving. Mostly to keep sunlight and dust/debrise from inside a convertible. Like I said, I recently had one on a Porsche and it was a royal pain. Looked sorta cool but, nowhere near the effort or hassle. |
