For those of you that don’t get Car and Driver, there is an interesting page article on Dr. Ru in the October issue. There are a few pictures of him stripping Mulhollands and Woodwards. Looks like a red Prowler trunk custom pinstripe design as well. At least I think it’s a Prowler. There’s also a picture of him pinstriping a wheel. The first paragraph of the article is : Rudy Kutey is only 54, but he may be the last dinosaur of the auto industry. “Dr. Ru” as he’s called, is the last known man to have been employed by a Big Three automaker as a pinstriper. It goes on to talk about how he pinstriped Prowlers in his last job with Chrysler. Just thought I would share.

Hi Jerry! What's up?  As a longtime subscriber of Car & Driver I can't wait to get that issue. You would think with a subscription I would get it before the newstands. Oh well.guess I gotta wait for tuesady to see the dang article. Dr. Ru is a pinstriping god. Jerry actually told me that it is all hand painted with no tape used.....How is that evn humanly possible?!? |

In the article, Dr. Ru is quoted as saying something like "If your using tape, you ain't pinstripping" |

Got my issue of C&D yesterday. I loved that article!!! Funny..the dealership told me Dr. Ru was some Korean guy...  Just so clueless. Nothing like getting the facts straight! They even posted Ru's email address in the mag. |
