I have followed the car hobby since I was a kid and played with Corvettes for the last 30 years or so(before Prowlers and Vipers)...while watching the Biography station today, a story was on about the surfin' music group "Jan and Dean" and it reminded me of something I have been trying to do for several decades, track down one of the many Corvettes the duo owned for my collection....ANYONE Out there ever know of such a car ANYWHERE ??? Most of their Vettes were of late 50's vintage and early to mid 60's.....anyone know of one of these Vettes ever being for sale, in a collection, or even still existing....Vette club was of no help many years ago...trying them again soon ....thanx for any thoughts regarding one of these cars.... |

Larry, Love Jan & Dean, Jan was driving his corvette when he was in the accident that nearly took his life. I have a Jan & Dean tape in the cat and it is about the only thing ever played in my cassette & I have the Deadmans Curve movie that was made for TV about them. I think I have a card around here somewhere that I got at their concert in 2000 at State Fair Grounds. It had a web site listed i believe. But I did search and found this it might help lead you to what you are looking for. ------------------ |

Here's a bit of trivia for you. Who was the girl on the cover of the J&D single "Linda"??
The adult Linda that the song was written about had no interest in posing for a picture to be used for the cover of the sheet music, so a lawyer that was involved with the song suggested that his young daughter who's name was also Linda, Linda Eastman, should pose for the picture to be used on the sheet music. Her picture was the one that ended up being used on the final product. Linda Eastman went on to become Linda Mc Cartney, Paul's wife. |

I was also one of the biggest Jan & Dean fans out there. I still own every 45 and album that they made. Dean went on to open his own graphic arts company and made the cover for some of the last Beach Boys albums. The album Jan & Dean an Anthology will tell you on the inside what cars they owned and what girlfriends the two were dating during their claim to fame years. That type of nostalgia is what makes us prowler lovers as some of us that have made that 50 mark in life wish for the days of 32 cent gasoline, real food and not fast food as well as other things that meant lots to us growing up. Things that our children will never learn to appreciate. My first car was 61 corvair and followed by a 67 camaro that I actually made car payment of $78.00 dollars per month on and worked part time after school to pay for it. Just a good ole 327 two barrel automatic, but a chick magnet for a school boy from a little town in Indiana with a population of 12,000. Gee I have done it again and started going about the past. Now I sound like my parents. YIKES !!! Denis |
