Ron.

The only ideas I can offer are the same for a stock Prowler. Bleed the air from the lines and some have had a complete flushing of the cooling system... I did read somewhere recently where someone had tried new radiator but, it turned out not to fix the problem...

Over at the Prowler Pro site there's High Performance Discussion board and under the "Engine" section there's a topic of radiator... Here's the link to that site... http://www.prowlerpro.com/

Having done that drive many times, it is all up hill. Where was your guage at? 1/2? 3/4? or in the red?

You might check antifreeze,,,the % of water and fluid.

Try Water wetter by Redline, it helps a little.

I've done all that and custom built a new radiator which had the front end redone to fit this larger radiator to no avail. My temperature problems are still around under boost going on interstate 5 south and up the grapevine at 100 miles per hour.

I can do this same thing on my Saleen and I get a steady NORMAL and my radiator is much smaller on my Saleen. I even have my AC on.

JD figured out if he takes his prowler pro gears off and runs stock, he no longer had temp problems.

I did find out though if the temperature outside is 60 degrees or cooler .... I will see NORMAL temps at 100 miles per hour while under boost. If the temperature outside is 80 or higher then I will see 3/4 temps and then find myself having to turn on the heater core to cool it off. Otherwise I'm overheating.

Later...

I can hear some of you think so to quench those inquiring minds.... I did slow down to about 70 miles per hour to decrease temps. But did not work until I turned on my heater core. I was baking myself alive though.

I have been looking for the ultimate solution but nothing has come up. I would have to take my cat back to stock which is not going to happen.

Bob Wyman had mentioned drilling holes along the edge of your thermostate but that don't work either. If you remove the thermostate all together, your temp issues are still around.

The engine is just getting to hot and the circulating water is not cooling the block fast enough. I have a new Honey Comb radiator design that is being talked about which hot rod users use in those tiny engine compartments with HUGE V8's. I still think that won't help. The engine compartment needs to feel alot more fresh air PERIOD ... along with more air flow thru the radiator.

I am not really knowlegeable on this subject but I had a 1930 Chevrolet that used to overheat. The solution to keeping it cooler was to retrict (slow down) the water flow through the radiator. The water was going through so fast it was not getting cooled properly. Placed a washer in the water inlet to reduce the water flow. I have no idea if the same prinicple would apply with new cars but I thought I would throw it our there for what it is worth.

What about a bigger fan and/or one with more blades?

Different scenario, I did this on one of the house units (more blades) and it ran ALOT cooler.

If the problem is getting more air through the radiator, then more blades or more rpm's on the fan motors would do it.
