I have a tire with a bubble on it. I took it to a Goodyear dealer and they said that's not under warranty. They want $350.00 for a new one installed. The Chrysler dealer said go to Goodyear. I called Chrysler customer service and they say they have nothing to do with the tires call Goodyear. The tires only have 7700 miles on them. Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone gone to anything besides run flats? |

I have Dunlops (non runflat) on and they soften the ride. Others have bought Goodyear non runflats and also B F Goodrich aming others. I think GY should stand behind the tire - is there anyone else you can contact? Good luck Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

I see you're a "Prowler Rookie", so I'll be nice (then again, you've been around for 6 months, so here goes): RUN, DON'T WALK . . . . . . . to your Prowler. "In the event that tire service is needed, you have the option of contacting your closest authorized EMT service facility with either Chrysler . . . . or Goodyear" (editorial comment - this seems to say that, IF your Chrysler dealer is EMT certified, they HAVE TO take care of you). "Any new Goodyear EMT removed from service due to a workmanship or material-related condition (see Adjustment Policy Limitations*) or that has been rendered unrepairable during the first 25% of useable treadwear, or twelve months from date of purchase, whichever comes first, will be replaced without charge. Repairable punctures will be repaired free of charge during this period. Mounting and balancing are included." (Editorial Note: a bubble in the sidewall is not ruled out under "Adjustment Policy Limitations", see below) Not going to go into the 4 paragraphs for after 25% of treadwear or 12 months, but it basically says they're prorated. AAAANNND, if you had the foresight to buy the Chrysler extended warranty AND CHECKED OFF THE ROAD-HAZARD BOX, it is indeed your Chrysler dealer's problem. * "ADJUSTMENT POLICY LIMITATIONS" "The following are not covered by this policy: Hope this helps (and hope I wasn't too abrupt). -GRROWL P.S. - I you end up paying for it, $350 isn't bad for a rear, but it's way too high for a front. |

It depends on which goodyear you take it to... I had a rear tire do that to me, and went to one goodyear that was not a company store, and they told me it wasn't under warranty... Then I drove to a Goodyear company owned store 10 minutes away, and they covered it for me.... They were going to charge me like $180.00 for a new rear tire.... I'll be that Goodyear still has the tire sitting there too, since mine got totalled out before I made it over to get the tire installed.... Try more than one Goodyear, and you should have some luck. |

Using more words than necessary, my point was: BRING THE WARRANTY TO GOODYEAR - it's a contract. If they say it isn't covered, you say, "Here's the warranty. Show me where it says that". -GRROWL |

Just a word of caution ... they DO have an "out" and that is "bubble was caused by pothole or other road hazzard and road hazzards are NOT covered by warranty -- sorry". If the bubble is parallel to the tread surface then is a defect. If is perpendicular to the tread surface, is typically caused by impact. Keep us all posted on your results! |

I Am A Goodyear Dealer . The Problem is simple . Have them remove the tire from the rim . If the point where the bubble is is in fact split open on the INSIDE . That is caused from Impact ! What happens is the tire is pushed in and splits open the inner liner "ROAD HAZARD" . If there is no split or hole on the inner liner you have a defective tire and any GOODYEAR should warranty this tire ! |

Can't speak on ours, but I did have a rather expensive Goodyear on my A6 a few years back. They told me the same thing that it probably wasn't under warrantee as I probably caused it. But they offered to take it off an look just like moparmania said. Whatever they found, they determined is was a defective tire. Of course it took two weeks for it to be dropped shipped from Europe. You think they would stock some over here. I'd say if you can't get anywhere with this Goodyear dealer, try another. It really sucks that the tire warrantee is completely separate from the car. Except for Fords ... why was that again ... ------------------ |

jusumguy1, Please allow me to save you $350 so that you can donate it to the POA. I noticed the following while browsing www.tirerack.com: Replacement Program: Road Hazard: YOU ARE COVERED FOR ROAD HAZARD. In addition to the new tire, mounting and balancing are also covered. -GRROWL |
