Got my unpainted "Real Rod Weekender" today for my 2001 Mulholland ...looks great..thanks Bob..

But I'm unsure about painting the stainless steel and hinge assembly or having it polished or chromed...what have the guys done with your Reel Rod Weekender...all the pics
I found don't show the lower assembly only the box

Got two prices on painting at two Five Star DC dealers..
first quote 545.00 CAnadian...second quote 245.00 CA..
Go figure...

NC..... I also got my Weekender unpainted. First I had the inside Rhino Lined at a local truck bed shop (75.00). It protects the inside and doubles as a cooler Then I had it painted at a local body shop(250.00). I spent about 6 hours polishing the hitch assembly. Mine had a lot of grinding marks so I had to sand it a LOT. First I used 180 grit, then 220 then 400 then 600. After all that I used Wicked Metal Polish for the final buffing. It looks great! Better than painted. However I think I am going to have the hitch and mount chromed over the winter. I will try to post some pictures later today. I'm off to play some golf !!

Many Thanks...Mine seems to be in a similar condition
as yours...looks like a great weekend project for me..
How is the stainless holding up in the weather...after polishing...any need to rebuff ...would love to see some up-close pics of the lower section and the inside with the Rhino-coat applied..I ve read that some line it with carpit

Thanks again....I thought I was the only one who bought it unpainted. For the rest of you "Weekender Owners", was the whole unit painted when you received it.....or

love this site...Don and Sandy...

AC......yes, that is the MAC Sport Exhaust. I love the looks and the sound. I would have time to water the grass if I didn't spend so much time polishing the Kat

When you backed it up onto the ramp, did you scrape the nose on the driveway?????

Steve....no, not at all. I use the ramps all the time for both the front and rear. It's much easier than a jack.
