Does it hurt the top if you keep it down for any length of time.
And thanks to all for the warm welcome. Oh, I put a few miles on my kat today, I do drive it but just not that often.

You will get varied opinions on this. I have had mine a over three years. Whatever position the top is in when I park it in the garage is where it stays until I drive it again. The only time the top goes up in the Summer is when I get caught in the ran, when its parked in a parking lot, and on sverely hot humid days when I know I am going to be in gridlock traffic. So my top is mostly down and I have seen no ill effects. Just be sure it is securly strapped down and the material is tucked down in the area of the deck lid latch. Some even put a rag over the mtop material in that area.

Barbara,
One thing I have noticed with the top up is the area immediately under the rear part of the top gets scratched. I guess maybe very fine sand finds its way under there and acts as an abrasive. I've had my top down while the car is in my garage. AS far as negative effects from the top being down most of the time, I suppose you will see creases and wrinkles, but they aren't necessarily permanent. I just cover the top-down car with a car cover to keep the dust, sand, flying animals ,and other creatures out.

Barbara.............during my driving season, 98% of the time the top stays down. I park it in the garage that way, also. I do put the car cover over it just to keep dust out. Never had any wrinkles or any problems. You should always use the tie down straps when you do put it down. I use a bath towl folded vertically and tuck it over the top after I latch it.

I've owned a lot of convertibles in my lifetime and lately (during the past 15 years or so) whatever convertible or roadster I've owned are 2nd or 3rd cars and I leave the tops down for weeks at a time. As long as the top and rearwindow are clean I don't think it makes much of a difference as long as it's put up, locked tight and restreched every month or so.

Hi Barbara - Agree with all of the above, but when my top is down in the garage, I pull the lever behind the seat to release the stretch pressure. I see many late model Camaros and Mustangs with loose material tops, and wondered why? I reasoned that stretching too tight, too long might cause this condition,,,,,,,then again, I might be wrong?

When the top is down, I place a tire dressing sponge in between the top material and the rear locking latch component,,,,,,just to be safe.

Alley didn't you mean to say when your top is UP in the garage you pull the release lever to prevent stretch.

Barbara, does the top go up on this car? We keep it down much more than up; generally with the cover over it.

Thanks for the tips. I keep it down most of the time. When in the garage I do put the car cover on it.
