Welcome to POA! You will get varied opinions on this. Since I live in Michigan, the driving season is only from March to November (usually). I drive it every day, every chance I get. We have members who live in climates who can drive it every day and do. We even have one who lives in the Midwest and even drives it in the snow!!! If you are going to buy it for an investment, don't drive it. If you are going to buy it for cruisin' and fun and sheer enjoyment, DRIVE IT!! |

My daily driver is a '91 Dodge Spirit with 100,000 miles that I keep in good repair. It has the grocery store dings and all. I leave the Prowler as my fun car and look forward to driving it often. I even day-dream of driving it while I am at work. In the past, cars that I would buy, like the Prowler, I drove as a daily driver because I could only afford one good car. I soon tired of them and was always looking for the next cool car in about 6-9 months. That is expensive and takes the pleasure for me out of the fun of having a Prowler. Just my 2 cents. |

This is a car meant to be enjoyed whether driving it or watching one go by. As far as investment value, look at the prices of new and used ones right now. I suspect it is going to be 20+ years before you can get any amount of money more then what you bought it for (and up till such time, probably considerably less). Yes, they are tiny, yes they barely hold two people, yes, they have no trunk, and yes, most leak in the rain BUT, no other car garners sooooo much attention (top up or down), IMO. |

2ndMethod - WELCOME to the POA! I don't drive mine daily, but wouldn't hesitate to do so if I didn't have another vehicle to drive. ENJOY THE RIDE ------------------

Welcome to the POA. I would drive mine more to work and such but if you have ever experienced GA rush hour traffic you will understand why I don't. Beside we have had a rash of thefts and vandalism in the past year in the office parking lot. Just yesterday two cars were stolen around 11:30 AM. Marty Usher drives his all the the time. I am sure you will hear from him soon. I have driven mine to Michigan twice, Once to Louisville KY, once to Salt lake City Utah (5,212 miles in 3 weeks) and in October I will be driving it to Gonzales LA. So as you can see it not the mileage thats bothers me. It was meant to be driven. Be sure to attend some of our National evenst. This message has been edited by BeWare on 08-06-2002 at 03:00 PM |

The orange Kat has been temporarily DRY DOCKED.....got a couple of other new toys to play with for a while, but the Kat will be back on the road as usual this weekend....year round it is the car to drive...drive it often and drive it hard.....use it daily for my business vehicle...has flaws from everyday use(currently sporting a crack in the nose from an encounter with a less fortunate feline), but it is more fun to drive than park...and yes, I do drive it in the snow and ice ... |

I get up in the morning and look outside. If it's not raining, snowing or icy, I take GRROWL - which is 90-95%. That's over 32,000 miles in just over 2 years. I bought a hardtop for the winter so I can take GRROWL out more often. -GRROWL |

I drive mine to work every day. Whenever I step outside for a cigarette break, I can see my kcat and still be amazed that such a nice car belongs to me. P.S. The middle picture in my signature below was taken at work. |

I have accepted the fact it will never be showroom condition again and woith all my mods it will necer be stock or a candidate for an original restiration project, so I just drive it and enjoy it! My daily driver is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, but I drive the Kat to work on some nice days (especially on Fridays!) My company car is a Ford Crown Vic, dark blue (almost matches the Kat) with Blue Lights. My wife has a PT Cruiser, with a woody kit that I installed last month. I really love to get the Kat out and Prowl in the warm summer evenings . . . |

Purchased Kat Aug. 01 and have 7200 miles on it. I drive it to work once a week and every moment I get a chance to on the week-end. What a Kat!! Can't express how it feels everytime someone gives you a thumbs up or WOW comment. |

Jeez, Thanks for the overwhelming response. It's been truly a pleasure hearing the responses you all give about the question as well as the love for the car. If any reason at all to buy one, it would be the passion for the car all of you have. Sadly enough, I decided to go out yesterday and buy a 2003 Range Rover...Silver with charcoal interior. Thats ok though! Thanks for the overwhelming response again. I appreciate it. |
