Sunday 6:13 am PT

36 years ago today my best friend (my wife) and I were on our honeymoon and had lunch at Andersons Split Pea Soup about 150 miles down the interstate in the central valley of sunny california. To tell the truth is tasted like #$%&%
and we have joked about it for years, I told her I would surprise her with a nice lunch today, so in a little bit in the cat and off. Hope it tastes better the second time around, but I know the ride will be more fun in a PROWLER.

So whats in store for you and your cat today????????????

Pea soup goesn't get better with age (like wine). If it tasted bad 36 years ago, 36 year old pea soup will REALLY STINK!!!!

Seriously though, I'd be surprised if the restaurant is still there after so long.

Curtis, it is really hard for me to believe that a woman would stay with you for 36 years after you take her to a pea soup joint. And how do you reward such faithful devotion? By taking her back there!! Only in America. Don't you guys have White Castle?? lol. Congratulations on the longevity.

Curtis. Congrats and you can always add a lil hot sauce to the pea soup...

I've been out for a cup of cafe au lait this morning in the Kat... and that's about it... now cooking some eggplant with shrimp...

I sure hope that pea soup comes with a 3# lobster and a prime rib on the side.

CONGRATULATIONS.

Congrats on your anniversary Scott and Kathy. Wow, 36 years, you're a lucky guy. The Anderson's Pea Soup place is still there, but I wouldn't take her there. This time she may not stay with you. Why risk it?

On the same Highway 5 there is Harris Ranch. The best beef in the world, and great food. I stop there every time I go to LA from Northern California.

By the way, there is no White Castle in California, at least I have never heard of it.

I realize you wanted to know what we were doing, but is seems none of us are doing anything as important as you. We have nothing better to do than to give you advice, as if you need it.. LOL.

Curtis,

Funny you should mention Anderson's Pea Soup Restaurant.

I was just their restaurant in Buellton yesterday while on my way to the races at Santa Maria Speedway for last nights races. I learned my lesson about the soup a few years ago.
The drive up and down the coast was extra nice.

Happy Anniversary.

Jim,
You're right! Harris Ranch is a "must stop" when traveling highway 5.

Curtis,

Congratulations to you an Kathy.

Don't know why Kathy puts up with you! Just Kidding!

To everyone else there are now 2 Pea Soup Andersons one on Highway 5 and the original on Highway 101 so I guess peas soup can't be all that bad since the restaurant has lasted I think over 40 years.

First thanks to all of you for the replys.

Short story, Drove about 300 miles today most of it on cruise control about 80 to 85 Highway 5 north and south got a smile for every mile, (no tickets).

Got to the Anderson Pea Soup joint not the same one but they still had the left overs stored for me after all these years, was extra green and just as cold as the last time,
sorry CJ but I still dont like it, but Kathy and I had a great time lots of laughs, took a few pictures, did some shopping found a 1/18 Howler at a KB toy store.

Thanks again to all of you for the kind and funny words,
hope to meet some of you in Sept. on our road trip to ok.
via interstate 40.

Congradulation's Scott and Kathy on 36 years with your best friend. Anderson's food can be good, just don't order the soup!

BTW, there is a 3rd Anderson's in Carlsbad, CA just off the I-5 Fwy at the Palomar Mountain Rd. exit. I take the wife there every spring time to Armstrong's Nursery when there 50+ acres of flowers are in bloom. It's a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Driving down the CA coast to Carlsbad on a bright Sunday morning.

I haven't been to Anderson's yet. Actually, never heard of it. I will take everyone's advice though, I will stay away from the soup.

I took my wife to Long Beach Aquarium in my new LR Discovery via Pacific Coast Highway. It's a great place and we had a lot of fun.

Happy 36th Anniversary!!!
