Venting by George... There has been an uncalled incident of Cat abuse in my new ("upscale"-ha) apartment complex. It was our (My Cat and I) first day at the complex in Dallas, after a long day Saturday of moving. My cat was sleeping in the "secure" community parking garage amongst the standard "yuppie" vehicular crowd. My parents had come in to see my "3-WEEK-NEW Cat" as well as the new apartment... 7 PM all was well... It was a 2.36-inch gouge in the door. This was NO door ding, but a deep cut by a knife or thin key. I did not know what to think at that point - should I call for help, perhaps the nearest 24-hour Chrysler Emergency Center[1411 (no listing)]? I decided to calm down and examined the wound. Definitely a knife. Why MY car? Surely Inca Gold is not THAT offensive! Now What? Step 1 - Car Cover - any ideas on the best kind, I would prefer fitted-maybe even with a cable lock. I was thinking the Chrysler Branded one, unless anyone has any better options. Step 2 - Get Estimate on Repair - Has anyone had Inca Gold Repaired with a GOOD paint match-due to the "pearl" composition of the paint? Is the Dealer always best? I am in Dallas, TX. Step 3 - Buy Black Ninja Outfit and camp out in dark corner of Garage for a few days and...(censored) Venting All Done. Prowl On! ------------------ -------------->O<----- |

So So Sorry to hear about the Kat abuse, don't understand what makes people do these things. I have seen some other posts on some kind of scratch repair that all who used, was quite happy with. Do a search and check it out. Gary ------------------ |

I scratched the right rear fender of my 99 Purple and was told by three differnt painters the whole quarter panel would have to be repainted, due to the amount of metalflake in the paint. Most reasonable estimate was $385.00. Its new paint so it should be easy to match. When my hood needed repaint I checked with my local street rod guys and found a good painter who matched it exactly and my car was two years old at the time. The repair kit that was mentioned is mostly for rock chips and I doubt if it will work on a scratch. I had a 55 Chevy that I worked on for three months making it perfect for a black paint job. It hadn't been painted a month (5 coats black 5 coats clear) when somebody went down the entire drivers side twice with a key or something. I too lived in an apartment the the time. Some people just can't stand for you to have something they can't. I was at a cruise last Sat. I had a remote in my car that turned on some auxillary lights I had mounted. Someone turned the lights on with it and then walked off with the remote. Luckily I had a quick disconnect for my lights. No permanent damage, but I am out a remote and my lights are useless unless I hard wire them to a switch or something. Likely teenage kids. They don't seem to have any repect for anything these days. They do things like this just for spite. |

George: As a new Inca Gold owner myself, I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. I would be absolutely furious. At any rate, one suggestion I have is to install a perimeter alarm system, one with dual zones. The first is to establish a perimeter around your vehicle, such as 1 or 2 feet. The alarm can be set to "chirp" if someone (or something) comes within that distance. The secnd "zone" is inside your car, so that if anyone even reaches into the vehicle, the alarm goes off. I believe you'll have to get a whole new alarm system, but they start at about $350 and go up from there. Relatively cheap insurance, in my opinion. Hang in there, buddy. Once it's repaired, the bad feelings will go away. This site makes for great counseling, doesn't it?! Prowl on, Kevin ------------------ |

Sorry to hear about what happened to your Prowler. Most people will treat your Kat with respect and admiration, but there are always idiots out there. Hopefully someone will have a recommendation for a good body shop. ------------------ |
