There is a '99 Yellow Prowler up for bids on eBay w/ a VIN# of 500020. This has to be close to the very 1st yellow produced, but I don't have the means of checking that out. Thought I'd post this if anyone is interested.

3070 Miles, Used, Clear title, Yellow Exterior - Black Interior, Existing Warranty, VIN: 1P3EW65G3XV500020

The current bid is at $28,100 - auction ends in 24 hours.

Wow, that must be a huge showroom to put 3070 miles on it. There is a reserve so it may not sell. Laddie, do you know of any lower numbered yellows?

I believe I am correct, the VIN has nothing to do with the build date of the car. It is stamped on the driver door

Darcy, that is partially correct. The VINs do not run in exact sequence but a number that is 50 lower than that was MOST probably built before it. The variations are not huge jumps in number. They share the VINs with the Viper, also.

Ed. I can't help much on the Vin #s.

Glen Stoker was tracking vin #s back 3 or 4 years ago...

If this VIN # is correct, Then it is the earliest VIN # for a Yellow that I have recorded. I suspect that maybe there is a mistake, since the # seeems to be in a VIN range occupied by the 1st run of 99 Purple' (after CAAPresumed production in '98.

The earliest 99 VIN number is have is 500027 (Purple) and all the other VIN's up to 500640 have been Purple. The 1st 99 Yellow I have recorded is 600641, and all the VINs' up to 500969 are Yellow.
A yellow with this VIN indicates this was built right after they started up production in Jan '98. Very strange. It would be interesting to find out the MDH. Maybe this was a CAAP Pilot car???

lynnpt2001,

I noticed the other Prowlers in the background, which is what I think you where referring to. Also, if this car is used, you would think that CARFAX would show it as been registered, which it does not.

Something certainly doesn't seem right.

Onaprowl, Yellow was the second color offered, I think. There were yellow produced in 99 before the red. I am not sure if black or yellow was second.

I think yellow was before the black.

BE CAREFUL!!
I saw what I thought was a good deal on a yellow cat in Fl.
After a check with Carfax raised suspicion, I had a company by the name of Inspection Solutions (saw their banner on ebaymotors) do an inspection. I am in NC and didn't want to go to Fl. They found that the car had major structural reairs! The dealer had lied to me by saying the car had only been in a minor accident. I highly recommend Carfax and Inspection Solutions!

Randy - I fully agree with you. There are 'many rats' out there for sale. Then, when one of them rats sells at a lower price,,,,,,everyone gets excited or depressed. A car sells for what it is worth, normally. Sometimes people buy without seeing or checking it out, then find out the bad news. If they don't check it out, how can we feel sorry for them?
