I drive my cat often, but next week will be my first long trip in it (I thought about trailing it ). My trip starts from Chicago to Detroit them to Indianapolis then back home (Chicago). I would normally drive my other car, but one of my customer’s I’m seeing is DaimlerChrysler in Detroit and the asked my to bring my Cat. Should I drive the Prowler? |

I don't consider a 750 mile round trip to be a long one, to be honest with you. Do you have to do it all in one day? |

It a attention getter, it is under warranty, milage is not bad, it's a fun Kat to drive, you get everyone's attention, and 800 miles in two days is a snap. Go for it and don't stop S M I L I N G !!! |

Just be sure to wear your kidney belt ... those roads in Michigan can be very brutal ... oh and those Indiana roads will likely be under construction ... hey wait, those are OUR roads in Illinois and we PAY to drive on them ... never mind, have a fun drive! |

Trailers SCARE me. 2 years ago going to the Woodword Dream Cruise, Nowell Herman got in a car wreck that totalled his new Lincoln Navigator when the trailor broke away from his car!Woodward was OK. He drove it back home + right to Dealer + sold it. |

On our recent 3 week road adventure capped by the CO event in our 99 Kat we did 13 to 14 hours in one day., I was not as tired and stiff after driving that, as I would get in our 99 Deville on long hauls. The seats are very comfortable. |

Like Rich & Linda - we just finished driving 4131 miles to and from the Colorado event pulling a trailer and had no problems even on the longest drive across South Dakota and Minnesota in a single day. With a 200 mile range (with gears & pulling the trailer), we had to stop for fuel about every three hours anyway. Enjoy your trip. On the way to Denver one guy even hung out of the passenger side of a pick up and videoed the KAT/trailer as they passed!! Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty, I think I would have gotten the longest distance driven award had there been one. A total of 5,212 miles in 3 weeks. Lved every minute and would do it again. Enjoyed the Catavan returning from, much more than the lone wolf trip going to however. |

If you don't feel comfortable driving it then I would trailer it, true these cars were meant to drive but not everyone likes to drive them into unknown land (me included). |

Rich - Yeah - I would think it would be between you and KOOLKAT form Boca Raton. They went on to Las Vegas after Denver I believe before heading back to Florida. I think Laddie and Karen drove further than us also (but they were trailering most of the way) Ed & Sandy went 2 1/2 miles further than us by driving around the block when they got home just to beat our mileage so I am glad you drove further. Bottom line is the cars are really good on trips as long as you have storage space! Marty |

Marty and Rich, you two must have gotten the deluxe interior. Maybe I am just a little too tall but I think it is uncomfortable. I can't fit in the passenger seat, I discovered. Do not take this as a negative. I can live with the seats and all of the rest of it. I love the car but it has some drawbacks, comfort being one of them. I still will never sell it. Marty, it was two trips around the block. |

Marty , yeah Laddie went to CA first, but like you said trailered his car most of the way. I think his original plan was to at least drive his Kat some in very sate they passed through. I don't know if he actually did it. I hope to get my Kat out to Texas some time. Ed, I am only 5ft 71/2 in. tall. (I was 5ft 81/4 in before I shrank, no joke) I might change my tune about the Kats comfort if I was tall like you. Sometimes being short does have its advantages. |

Prowlers are not meant to sit in a garage, and people who love them are not ordinary stay-at-home folks. If you bought one you are already out there. Go for the adventure and drive it wherever you want. There is no way it will stay virgin, and if you try to keep it that way, you'll miss the fun. We went to Colorado this year for our first distance tour and had a blast. We are looking forward to going anywhere far from here, probably Tennessee next summer and then maybe Canada or California. I'm 6'2" and had no problem spending all day in our Kat. This message has been edited by catterumpus on 07-08-2002 at 11:00 PM |

With 250 miles on mine, took off from Wisconsin, drove straight through for 25 hours, met up with the great South Texas Chapter of POA for the bluebonnet cruise, got 9 hrs rest, and drove straight through back to Wisconsin.... one of the best 60 hours of my life ! Never look back.. just go ! (Followed it up only four weeks later with another trip to Texas!)

My wife and I took our first 200 mile freeway trip on July 4 in my son's 1999 Prowler (which, lucky for me, lives at my house). The freeway expansion joints and our Prowler sure don't get along. No matter what speed I drove, the ride was simply punishing. I've had several neck surgeries and next trip in the Prowler will have to include the old neck brace. It's also much more fun to drive on the back roads so I would recommend skipping the freeways as much as possible. I would sure appreciate suggestions from other Prowler owners that might help me to enjoy our car more. Thank You, |

"Twilson!.." (is this Castaway or what?) DO NOT drive the car on a long road trip! Keep the miles off of this "rare" collector's car. SAVE all that FUN for your kids or wifey's new boyfriend when your gone. JWD and Chromer This message has been edited by Chromer on 07-09-2002 at 08:32 PM |

Jay Carsman - there isn't a car made that will ride smooth out on that stretch of I-10 between Palm Springs and Banning. I find most of the LA freeway system to be on the rough side also.
