I received my new trailer yesterday and the wheels are steel rims with plastic covers to match the silver wheels on the car, I have seen other trailers with chrome mags. Can anyone tell me why the silver wheels aren't mags? Any suggestions? |

At the time I bought my trailer in 01, I ordered the chrome steel wheels from the dealer and paid about $250.00 each for them, they are 15 X 5.5 or 6.0 Mine came stock with wooden wheels. Happy Prowlin ------------------ |

Eric, I have one of the early trailers which also has the steel wheels with plastic covers. I initially was going to replace them with the actual mag style wheels however most people don't even notice I have caps instead of the actual mag wheel. Also the Caps are designed to cover the rim of the steel 15' wheel and give the appearence of being 16" wheels. |

That site only has 15" Chrome wheels, does anyone have silver wheels or were they even made? |

Eric, Carnuts.com had silver wheels at one time. I believe they were $100 each. Chrome Mag, Silver Mag or steel wheel with the caps such as we have only come in 15". You could use 17" Kat fronts on the trailer but then you would have to run lower profile tires for clearance and possibly spacers as well. I was told by Jerry while in CO that much of the trailer ride quality is dependent on the tire size used. Apparently the suspension is calibrated for the tire and wheel size that comes on the car. I am probably not explaining this correctly. |

Eric, my trailer was built in '97 and has the same wheel covers you describe. I think it shipped that way because the early Prowlers had wheels that matched (pre-chrome). I was thinking of trading them in for some 15" chrome wheels also, but Fixumm gave me the idea of sending the gray plastic spoke pieces out and having them chrome plated. The plastic dash on my GS was re-chromed 2 years ago and looks excellent, but I don't know who did the chroming. (a service in Iowa middle-manned it) I'll make a few calls and see what I can find out and let you know. BB |
