Can anybody tell me how often the oil needs to be changed in my Prowler that hardly ever gets driven? My car has only 165 miles on it and is 3 months old. I would like to put Mobile 1 in it but am not sure if it's too soon to switch or if it needs a change at all. I just changed the oil on my other Prowler because it had 3000 miles on it and they are telling me I should change the one that is 3 months old just because of how long it's been setting. What do you think? Also does anybody know how often this car should be driven to keep it running right? Am trying to keep the miles down on it but don't want to hurt the engine.

Thanks for your help!

Bill

I'm using Mobile 1 on other cars I have, I did change them at 10,000 miles not according to the time table because I never drive this car except a long trip and just have an oil changed after 18 months. On my new Kat I will change to Mobile 1 when she gets to 3,000 miles and use schedule A for the service there after.

Bill,

you should break it in with factory oil. I would switch after 3,000 mile, it needs to wear some to seal the rings. They tell you to change at 3 months but that is if you are driving it.

If you live in area that has climate changes from hot to cold and the car sits in unheated garage it will tend to form condensation, then it might need to have oil changed. even if it isn't driven much.

The owners manual for my 2002 Dream Cruiser states changing the oil every 7,500 miles, I would say the Prowler is the same.

I just took delivery this past weekend, and I'm told by my Prowler tech to change the oil right before I store it for the winter, regardless of the mileage. He recommended using Mobil 1, 5W30, and change it every 6 months, again regardless of mileage.

I don't plan on putting many miles on it.

I'd say 2,500 miles and then change it. May or may not have cam gear lube in it from the factory?

What is this 165 miles and talk of storage? The cat was built to be driven,,,,,,,,,might as well bought a Kia Sophia

Kevin - don't count on it. Once you start driving it regularly, you'll begin to create reasons to more miles on it!!
