Hehe well I decided to test something out. I decided to drive the Prowler like it was a diesel truck to see what kind of mileage I would get. Checking my average from my normal driving habits I was getting 16.0 mpg. That's pretty bad. Sad thing is I don't drive like I'm racing every second. Only some of the time. Well this time I kept it in Drive and eased into the speed and didn't try passing everyone. Well at PEAK! I got an astounding 24.4 mpg. This is on my traffic intensive ride to work in the morning on the 5 fwy. By the time I reached work there's a 3mile hill I have to climb to get there so my avg dropped to 23.2. BUT STILL! That's a HUGE difference! So then I said to myself is saving a few extra bucks really worth driving like this? HECK NO! :P So after that I continued my normal cruisin.
Just thought it was interesting. What's the max anyone else has gotten?

I agree with your results, If I keep it on cruise evey to and from work I get about 24-25 as a average. Without cruise seems to be 21-22. In town when I drive normal and listen to the exhaust it goes to a funny 18-19. Can't figure it out, same kind of gas, has to be the car and playing with that gas pedel can't make all that diferrence, can it!!lol

In 3 years plus of owning the Kat I have only measured my mileage on trips and always pulling a trailer. This last trip I averaged between 20 and 21 mpg with a very loaded trailer. I am not a Hot Rod but to measure the mileage the way I normally drive the Kat would be a waste of time. Besides I didn't care what the mpg rating was when I bought it, and I still don't. But it is still nice to know what it is capable of attaining.

Are you using the mileage numbers on the front mirror? If so, none of Mike's have ever left the 12.6 or 12.8 range in the city. I know he has a lead foot, but it's worse than I thought!

Highway average - avg 25.7 mpg
City cruising - avg 22.0 mpg
City driving and pushing it somewhat hard - avg 17.5 mpg

I can go on a nice leisurely 50 mile cruise & the gas gauge won't even budge... It almost looks as if someone added gas... Stomp it!!! & it looks like an old Bugs Bunny cartoon where he sucks all of the water out of a pond with a straw in one huge slurp...

Looks like bigfoot must be a lightfoot or else a fudgefoot. We seem to stop by the gas pump fairly often and 16 sounds typical.

As a new owner (only 700 miles on my Kat), I've been surprised to see 21+ mpg with mixed city/highway driving. This is better than my PT Cruiser which averages upper teens for similar trips. I guess the difference is the high octane fuel and number of seats that I'm hauling around. Of course the Prowler is a lot more fun, usually driven faster, and gets more notice.

That's strange. The numbers seem to flucuate quite a bit. 21 mpg in the city is amazing. I'm not that much of a lead foot and I'm getting 16mpg including hwy mix. My car is a brand new 02. Only 5500mi on it. Oh well. Maybe I have worse driving habits then I'm letting myself believe =)

I avg. around 18-19 combined. But I did get 21 one time on a slow beach cruise for 100 or so miles. But usually 18.5 total.
