Another question!! Living in the glorious state of NJ, we are required to have a front plate. I plan on removing the front bumpers. Does anyone know if there is a product to relocate the front plate? Don't want any hassles from the local PD. Thanks Dan |

I sell the Prowler PlateMount for front license plate users but it requires that you keep your front bumpers. Check out Real Rod, one of the site's advertisers, which has a neat bracket that attaches to the frame from underneath. |

I just throw it on the dash whenever I get pulled over... Only had a comment from one officer (Trooper) who said he was going to let it slide since he was writing me a heavy ticket for speeding... ALLEGEDLY!!! WildBill |

Dan, my brother (steve dymo) made my plate bracket holder thingie and installed it for me with some wing nuts for quick removal at shows. it slides thru the grille and mounts to the front cross bar. also some of the guys put the chrome door stripping on the grille, i've seen it on some local prowlers,it looks pretty good.if you come out to lancaster we'll be glad to show off our front plates...hope to see ya there ------------------ CANDY |

SteveDymo's plate brackets are pretty nice and work well. I will have to rig something like that for my inspection later this year... JSKS & Mike V. - Are you guys going to the Philly boat cruise this Saturday??? Dan - let me know if you want info on the cruise. I am not the guy in charge of arranging it, but I am sure you are more than welcome to come along. WildBill |

Dan; I live in N.J. and have a 99 Purple. When i brought it this year to have it inspected ( I have no Plate on the front),i was told that a front plate is not required!!. Check with the Motor Vehicle Department and see what they say. in any event i have been driving without a front plate since i got my Prowler in 1998 and have NEVER been stopped because of it!! |

Dan - as far as I can remember you must have a plate on the front... Do you have collectors registration??? If what you are saying is true, can you please find out whom you spoke with, have them write a letter and please send me a copy. I refuse to put a plate on the front and would love any documentation protecting my decision. CJ - Yes ALLEGEDLY Especially at the speed he said I was doing I mean... I don't need a pilot's license... Do I? Besides, he just picked me out of a group of twenty cars. He probably owned a Vette

Dan, here is an idea that worked for me in MD. Make a cheap bracket and bolt it under the front or the like. Then break it off so that the bolt attached part remains on the car but unseen. keep the plate in your trunk. If you get stopped explain how it just broke off recently and you have plans to get it fixed. Understand I am not a typical law breaker but a front plate on the Kat is, well, YUCK! What is even more difficult for most people to understand is that I moved from MD to PA just son I could get past this issue! This message has been edited by lynnpt2001 on 07-01-2002 at 03:17 PM |

Hi Dan, In Idaho too, local officer gave me a hard times for the front license plate, I did check with my lawyer friend the law did say where I have to put, so I used Velcro put license plate on passenger side sun visor, when I have the top down just put it up high, when I have top up reverse the license plate put on another side and flip sun visor down. I got stop again second time from the same officer, he just laugh, shake his head and walk away. |

Dan, Get your local parts guy to write up a receipt for a front license plate bracket. Don't date it. Have him write on the front...National back order. Keep in glove box and pull out if needed and say someone stole your chrome frame and plate. I even went through NJ inspection without plate and had no problems. Now I live in FL and don't worry about it. Regards, Rex |

Had my Kat for over 2 years, no front plates and never questioned about it. The Deputy Chief of police for Edison has an orange Kat, no front plate. When I questioned him, his statement was "no one is going to bother you with a car like this" Rex.. the receipt is a clever idea, one question if you don"t date it till you need it, can you borrow the officer's pen to date it? You have been out of Jersey too long! |

still no hassle here yet either (Wisconsin also requires two plates) but 8800 miles of driving here and two round trips to Texas has not yielded any problems (Yet... fingers crossed). Got one of Paul's mounts... just in case He does a great job, a beautiful product (Besides the fact that he's a very nice fella) and will mount it if/when necessary. As I understand from many posts here, it is a 'fix=it' ticket.... fix it, show up and no problem anyway, so plan on delaying as long as I can! Hopefully, will be able to sell the bracket in NEW condition in about 30 years |
