Jay drove across Alligator Alley this morning and brought two of his new hand built "Polished Aluminum" trailer hitches to my home in Naples. He and I installed them on my Deep Candy Red, and my friend's Black Tie. They went on very easy and look terrific. They are a work of art and I am sure everyone will be thrilled with them. Of course if Jay has anything to do a product, you can bet it will be first class or he will not be associated with it. He took lots of pictures of the installations to use in the documentation that will be packaged with the hitches. Thanks Jay for another great Prowler product. |

Showing rear bumpers off… the frame and the rear bumper mounting holes where the hitch is “sandwiched” between the frame and rear bumper, attached using NEW Stainless Steel hardware and aircraft style nylon lock nuts that are included. Showing 2 of the 4 holes that may need to be drilled. These are the lower holes shown with the “riv-nut” installed. The above holes are the rear bumper mounting holes. NOTE… if this hitch is being installed to ONLY use the “Weekender” or a “Luggage Rack” it is not necessary to drill these 4 holes. However, if you are planning to tow the MOPAR trailer, it is recommended that the additional 4 bolts be installed by drilling & using the "riv-nut". Showing the hitch being installed… note the hitch mounting plate that is “sandwiched” between the rear bumpers and to be attached with 8 new Stainless Steel bolts and nuts. Completed installation. Completed installation. Regarding the drilling (4) holes and the installation of the (4) “riv-nuts”. This installation requires a special installation tool and I will be pleased to loan this to anyone needing it for the hitch installation. Due to the additional thickness of the hitch mounting plate, longer bolts are required, which are ALL included with the hitch purchase and are ALL Stainless Steel. The hitch is handcrafted from 100% new Aluminum plate, square tubing, jig welded to insure a prefect fit and trouble free installation. It is available in “natural” or “polished” finish as shown. The ONLY tools needed are a 13mm socket - ratchet and a 13mm open-boxed end wrench. Additional tool needed if your installation requires the 4 holes to be drilled… a ¼” drill bit for a pilot hole, a ½” drill bit and drill motor for the “riv-nut” installation. While not required, drive on ramps may make it easier. As always, ALL of our products are designed for the do-it-yourself Prowler Owner installation. If you have any questions regarding this product, please give me a call @ 800 669 3540. Also, THANKS Ken and Dale for the “Compliments” and “Product Referral” regarding this Aluminum hitch. Sincerely, Jay This message has been edited by YELLER CAT on 07-01-2002 at 06:45 AM |
