I'm obviously a newbie here:
Are new 2002 Prowlers generally still around at dealerships? (Dealer and pricing suggestions are welcome) What were the 2002 colors? Finally, is there a FAQ section (not FAQ with this website but with the CAR)? I'm particularly curious as to how the top works--does it simply fold back and into the trunk or do you physically need to detach it from the vehicle and then store in trunk? How long to get top up or down?
THANKS!
Jeff

Jeff, it latches up top and in back on top of the trunk. You fold up the rearward side, open the trunk, undo the top latches and fold into the trunk. It stays attached. Lots of new cars around the US. Do a search in www.autotrader.com Look for the Prowler faq via the front page. Gives numbers made, color's etc. You can easily find one for MSRP or less, new, 2002, from 40-45K now in most areas. Welcome to the club! Be sure and order ceramic brake pads via Raybestos (these can be ordered from Pep Boys) and the factory mud flaps right away front and rear to protect your Prowler!

Jeff, it takes about 30 seconds to put the top down and about a minute to put it up, after you have done it a few times. It is extremely simple to do, a one man job. Be sure to always secure it tighly in the trunk so that it does not vibrate and wear a hole in the fabric. There are also a lot of 2001 and a few 2000 models still in showrooms. Some of the brand new never titled cars have been left outside in the weather at dealers' lots and some have several hundred miles on them due to employees using them.
Prices vary widely in diff. regions of the country. Two local dealers have a new Blue and a new Orange inside the showrooms.
Go to Facts and Stats on the main menu and scroll to the bottom to see how many of each color in each model year were produced.
Buy one, you will love it. Shop around and get a good price.

Like Ed said the top is super simple. If a guy his age (and even Scot's age) can do it, anybody can. Get yourself a Kat and you'll never be sorry. The only problem is the permanent grin on your face.

Definitely. Once you decide to buy, just post that decision here and the troops will be activated. Don't pay more than retail. Don't wait too long. In about 6 more months to a year from now it will won't be impossible, but it will be much more difficult to find the right one for you.

What were the 2002 colors?
silver, yellow, inca gold, candy apple red, and only one high voltage blue. There are still many inca gold's and candy apple red's to be had.

Finally, is there a FAQ section (not FAQ with this website but with the CAR)?
You won't find a better source of information than this website. Everything you can think of is here. If you can't find it, just post a question and voila - you will see the answer.

I'm particularly curious as to how the top works--does it simply fold back and into the trunk or do you physically need to detach it from the vehicle and then store in trunk? The top is very easy to work. It folds into the truck. I am pleased with the design of the soft top. The rear window is not plastic, it is real glass with a defroster. There is an after market hard top avaiable. Browse through the scrapbook pictures and you will see some of those.

How long to get top up or down? Seconds.

Welcome on board, Jeff. This club is a great bunch of folks to be associated with. The best part about owning a Prowler is going to events and meeting the club members. I can't do justice to the words to tell you how much fun it is....
