Hello everyone! I would like to thank everyone for their expertise on Prowler's. I have wanted one ever since they came out, but unfortunately I was just graduating high school in 97. I worked my butt off through college and found a great job, which now allows me to buy cool expensive toys. I just picked up my new silver 2002 Prowler on Friday. Anyway, I have seen many different stats on the 0 to 60 and quarter mile times for Prowlers, anywhere from 5.7 to 6.5 for 0 to 60 and 14 to 14.8 for the quarter. What stock 0 to 60 and quarter mile times have you guys achieved? Thanks again for all the info you guys have provided, and finally I feel like an actual member of the club! |

Welcome to the site! I've never timed my cars, but seat o the pants tells me I have cars that run at different speeds. This is normal for any vehicle, some are just faster then others. Also, heat, fuel, track conditions, etc will help determine ET. I say, don't worry about how fast you get there anyhow... to many people gawking at your Kat ------------------ |

You're right about the gawking. My friend's dad has a 2001 Viper GTS, and don't get me wrong I love that car and it gets a lot of looks, but in the gawk category the Prowler definitely wins. And about the numbers I just want to see what people have been getting with their stock Prowler's. Can anyone help? |

Welcome to the koolest group you will ever find and Congrats on having a great "Kat" you can call your own. I don't think you will ever regret it. Again don't worry about how fast it goes, just linten to the exhaust and SMILE past all those people looking, waving and just enjoying your KAT with you. ------------------ |

Keep asking and eventually the guys that have tried everything will tell you what the cat will do. But like Todd says the performance stats don't matter to most folks, they just stand there wide-eyed and drool. ------------------ |

Welcome.... You'll love the car and the site and the people...... etc.. These is a post on this board somewhere where a 100% stock prowler ran 1/4 mile in 14.7 seconds I believe...... considerably faster for those who have made mods. John |

2002Silver, Welcome aboard. Keep posting and asking questions, come to some of the events. It never gets old driving the cat and everytime I go into the same little gas station the guy at the next pumps says, "That is the first one I ever saw in person." It happens EVERY time and I have been going to the same station for over three years with the cat. I thought everyone new me by now. ------------------ |

Never ran at a track and got official times. With hand held stop watch my 0-60 stock time was 5.8 seconds, with Cold Air Intake, headers, glass packs, and performance gears - 5.2 and 5.3 times, and with 75 HP shot of nitrous it got down into the 4's. Welcome to POA. You may wish to use the search feature on the website or look through past posts. There is a LOT of information out there. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Welcome. I don't now how fast they are but the other day a pinto passed me, I think one of the guys in Louisville stolen a spark plug or maybe it was because some one let the air out of my tires. ------------------ |

Hey, welcome to the club. My car ran 14.48 stock and 13.98 with gears, intake, and exaust. Here are some tips that help. I ran in perfect track conditions, cold dense air at a low alt. track. easy to find here in NE ohio. Try these tips, good for at least 3 tenths in the quarter. Disconnect pos battery terminal while you prep your car for you first run. 2 bags of ice on intake manifold "make sure you remove them before run" , 10 -15 lbs of extra air in front tires, instead of just brake torqueing your car "flash" the converter when you leave the line. This will make it hard to get a good reaction time, but thats not what your after. Flashing will get you about 500 rpms more than a brake torque. I also took off right side panel for more air to the mac intake. I know some of these tips seem excessive, but all together they are the diff between a 13 sec prowler and a 14 sec prowler. There are more , like a shallow stage and removeing front bumpers but Im sure the ones i gave will cause enough ?s |

Thanks everyone for your welcome and your input! Hey 2yello, or anyone who knows, how much are gears, intake and exhaust? On the same note, what would be a cheap way to increase power, besides NOS. Just curious, thanks. |

Well I went to the track last week, first time in my life ever to do this. I had gears only, rest stock. Ran 15.2, but I know I was getting wheel spin. I just slammed the accelerator to the floor and held it there. Next time I'll try to be a little easier on the throttle and I'm sure I'll do better. MadMikey ------------------ |

I ran my 01'Kat with 650 miles on it at 14.69 at 91.3 in 55 degree weather. Since I took it to the track one more time with about 2k miles.... It was around 75 degrees and the best I could manage was 14.88 at 90.4. So temp makes a big difference. I think mine could run 14.5 in stock trim with ideal cond. and a perfect run. As far as 0 to 60 goes.. I timed mine with a G-tech on my runs at the track. The best it could muster was 6.02.... but the worst was 6.15.... very consistent. Thought it could pull a high 5 though. ------------------ |

As an added note to my track time, the track is about 2400 ft. ASL, temp was 70-75 degrees and humidity probably around 15%... and I still know I could do better... :{> MadMikey ------------------ |

MadMikey, Just for giggles, the official NHRA Altitude Correction Factors for Las Vegas for Stock & Super Stock classes are .9757 for ET and 1.0255 for MPH. So, at sea level your ET is equivalent to 14.83 seconds. |

Hey silverprowler, exaust 795,intake 199, gears about 1,350. I buy all my stuff from venders on this fine site. Exaust and intake are fromm mac motorsports, and man do they make nice stuff. Gears are from prowler pro and in my opinion are a must have item. Nos is the cheapest way to go fast for sure. But you know what they say, speed costs money. |
