Bob and I were in Long Beach for the International Auto Salon Show from Thursday to Monday. While we were there, we managed to pack in quite a bit of activity. There were several special highlights..... After spending several hours at SoCal Speed Shop with Pete Chapouris, Tony Thacker and Mick Jenkins, they took pity on Bob and me. The corporate travel agency booked us a Chevy Cavalier rental car (go figure?) and the guys at SoCal just couldn't stand it. They gave us the SoCal Prowler to drive for the weekend!!! What a great bunch of guys!! It made cruisin' the Pacific Coast Highway (and everywhere else!) a whole lot more fun!!! I will say one thing, though, never again will I complain about Detroit's freeways!!!
The Pomona Swap Meet on Sunday was an experience in itself!! I wish I had taken my camera in with me, the wagons would have been worth photographing. Found lots of Prowler stuff!!! The other big highlight of the weekend was being able to get together with some of the other Prowler owners. We met Larry Lord and Julie for lunch after the swap meet and attended a car show in Redlands with them. Some great looking cars!!! Larry and Julie played "sneaky" and arranged for some of the POA members to meet us (as a surprise) for dinner! Bob and I were pretty surprised!!! It was great to meet more new people!!! I want to thank Larry, Julie, Cliff, Gina, their two sons, Bonnie Summerlin and John Holthaus, Todd Cameron and Ophie, Binh Nguyen (Howlercat), and Simon Kha for taking time out of their busy weekend to meet us!! We had a really good time at dinner, lot of stories and lots of laughs!! The exhaust challenge in the parking lot after dinner was equally as exciting. No one warned me about Cliff's driving!! That was a pretty wild ride just to hear Jay's new exhausts!! LOL! They sounded pretty cool, Jay...what I could hear over the tire screeching, that is!! Thanks to all of you, for making our "business" trip to So. California so much fun!!! I hope you all make it to Michigan some day so that I can reciprocate!!! Larry and Julie |

It was our pleasure to meet with you and Bob. Compare to what you do for us with CAAP, it was the least we can do for our appreciations. It was fun to listen to all of the Prowler's tales. Thank you Larry for taking the time to notify Simon and I even though we are only still rookies. Someday, we will have our prowler stories to share. See you all in Colorado. ------------------ |

Marty....never said I didn't like the round headlights, I do.....but those replacement side mirrors are totally worthless! You can't see a thing with them, especially with the top up! Scared the heck out of me.....especially driving those "wonderful" freeways! |

CJ - You liked the Calif. freeway system I see After a week or two, you'd fit right in,,,,,,,,driving 85-90 and changing lanes swiftly without using turn signals. Is this a great country or what? ------------------ AlleyCat Productions, Inc |

CJ Nice pix. Never could get the ones you sent to open. See what you mean about the rear. Not sure trailer hitch would fit though. ------------------ |

I kept asking if anyone had some t-shirts that said, "I'm a tourist and I survived driving the LA freeways!!" lol! ProwlerKeith........yes, I've met Pete and Tony many times (and many dinners)! Bob has known them for quite some time and they do some image vehicles for him. Marc.......you need a new program.....get into the new century!!! lol! |

Does anyone have good Hi Res pics of this Kat? The round headlight look is really growing on me. If I could convince Linda, I might make the change. Once I could afford it that is. ------------------ |

Rich - after selling my front bumpers and headlights, it only cost me $42.00 to put in round headlights. I wish I could afford the grill work on the So-Cal car - have to settle for chrome door edge guard for now!! CJ - was the rear roll pan the factory piece with mesh added or an entirely new piece? Thanks Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Marty....... The rear on the SoCal car is the factory piece with cut-outs and the mesh added. They relocated the transmission cooler, replacing it with two smaller ones located behind the mesh. They didn't like the looks of the exhaust, so they simply cut off the pipes just aft of the trans crossmember. The ends were then bell-shaped. The sound quality was decent. |

Thanks CJ - I have been playing with the grill mesh from a GMC pick up grill with chrome holes in in and trying to figure a way to attach it where the bumper bolt on. I would have to keep the tranny cooler where it is. In reality, I will prabably keep rear bumpers anyway. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |
