I was coming home yesterday and got caught in a little bit of a rain storm... I had about fifteen miles to go with my top down... She has never been in the rain and of course everyone was doing 30 in a 55 and there was bumper to bumper traffic ... My ten minute trip was quickly turning into a 45 minute swim... It wasn't snowing and the roads were not slick... Why weren't these people moving??? I had to get her home and no one would get out of the way, traffic was horrendous... I had an eight foot pole in the passenger seat so putting the top up was not an option. It looked like it was going to come down harder and the rain was getting colder and colder... I was able to find a drive through window in a bank to wait it out. It was a nice big one too. I was finally safe for now. The rain never stopped, but it did slow up enough for me to try to make it home. The road surface was still pretty dry so I figured I should high tail it out of there... I finally made my way through traffic and when I found enough of a clearing, I punched it... I think I was going fast enough that the wind just shot over the windshield blowing the rain away from landing on the interior... Got her home in record time and put her right in the garage and dried her off. What do you know. She didn't melt or fall apart! I know there are some owners who take their Kats out in the snow an all, but it has just been tough to convince myself... Everyone knows that cats don't like water I still don't know if my wipers work WildBill This message has been edited by WildBill on 04-22-2002 at 02:37 PM |

Discovered the art of driving "top down" in the rain when I was a kid....just go faster...rain will go around the cockpit of most 2 seaters, just don't exit for gas or slow down...drove 45 miles once with the top down in a Vette and only had a couple drops actually hit me...the exit off the hiway was another story....glad you had a blast...DRIVE 'EM... ------------------ |

I generally do not drive KC in bad weather but on a recent road trip last month to Phoenix we hit a snowstorm (of all places) 40 minutes East of San Diego. Guess what… KC handled the roads very well even though they were very slushy with wet snow. I was impressed with the drivability and all the seals were nice and tight, no leaks! Since it’s not every day you see a Kat out in the snow I had to take this picture. - Kcat |

Us here in the rust belt don't mind the snow....... it's the salt. Don't know how a kat would look after a year or two of winters with salt. Aluminum doesn't rust but it sure pits. Mine will never see it I assure you. John |

Well I've been caught in some dandy rain storms here and a really good one on the way to Deadwood last year with my top down, rain comes around the side windows and inside pretty fast on mine thats for sure. Had to take it out in the snow once to let it play it had lots of fun but then it's a lot of work cleaning it up after so try to avoid that happening to much anymore. PK |

quote: John does look happy behind the wheel... I think he just froze in that position since he wasn't wearing a jacket. Has he thawed out yet??? As far as driving on bad road conditions... I am just worried that someone else is going to slide into me. We are all too familiar with how much the kat distracts other drivers as it is. WildBill |
