Color? Price? Warranty? Styling? How long did you want one before you finally bought one? I loved the styling from the time I saw the first concept car at Churchill Downs on Ky Derby Day years before they were produced. When I could finally get one below $40K (last year), I bought mine.

I wanted one after seeing it for the first time in this magazine in 1993: I never thought I would own one until one day two years ago I went to go look at buying a Corvette Convertible and passed a Prowler on the way to the dealership. I told my friend "that is what I want right there." I spent about a month trying to locate a red one for sticker until I found one online. I called the dealership up to confirm the price and sent them a down payment immediately to hold the car. I flew up to buy it the following weekend and drove it home. I bought it for the style. There is nothing like it on the road. Still two years later, I drove it to a party yesterday afternoon and spent half an hour talking to people about it. Everyone there kept talking about it. ------------------ MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

First decided I wanted one in 1996, but the first ones were selling at too high of price. Waited for prices to fall, wasn't happening, so decided on a 2000 Corvette. Then I made one last search (Nov. '99) at AutoTrader.com, and found a dealer who was selling at or under MSRP - that did it, decided to go Plymouth which had a long tradition in my family roots. ------------------ AlleyCat Productions, Inc |

I always thought the Prowlers were cool, but I dont think I was that interested in buying one right off mainly due to the prices being hiked up. But in the summer of 99' when I was on my annual trip to Huntington Beach, CA. I saw a Black Prowler for rent in Newport Beach. With the time and money to rent it, I did for just a day. I was able to get it for $300. a day.. down from the $399. they were asking. Big number for me. But it was the most fun day on the whole trip. The following year 00' in the summer I was back. This time I rented the same Kat for 3 days at $239 a day. My girlfriend was with me that year. She loved the car as much as I. We had so much fun with it once again. The the summer of 01' same trip but this time I took the car for a whole week. $1k for the week. The car had lots of miles on it, but I must say it felt in no way loosened up by them. My girlfriend and I Had so much fun! The last day there I wanted to take the Kat back for a 911 Cab. 6-speed. I have to say that after driving the Kat for a week, the Porsche was boring! That was when I made my decision to buy one. Being I dont make big money yet, I would have to find a real good deal on one. Fast forward to the begining of this year and I finally got one. Got a great deal!!! And the color I wanted. Life is good!!! There you have it... sorry it's so long but thought I would share it all. ------------------ |

August 19, 2000. Fateful step onto Prowler Alley, Pontiac, MI, during the Woodward Dream Cruise. Most of the 17 or so Prowlers there had these funky windshield banners that said prowleronline.com... :P Mike ------------------ |

Saw my first one at Chryslers at Carlisle in 1994 (Might have seen CJ too, but of course didn't know her then)...... I decided then and there that I would get one. Came home and made an agreement with the owner of the dealership for his first Kat. We sold the '97 (Someone in Ohio paid me 20k over sticker, I paid sticker) without ever driving it and waited for the yellow '99. I have never regretted buying the car and I intend to keep it. ------------------ This message has been edited by Dave Mills on 04-08-2002 at 11:31 AM |

styling & rarity. Got tired of seeing so many C5 vettes(sold my 2000). The Prowler has some glaring negatives in my opinion but the styling more than makes up for the negs. When I discovered they were going to discontinue making the Prowler I really became interested. Also - MadMikey still excited about his Prowler after 6 months so I decided to take the plunge and have enjoyed the Prowler more than the vette. I am currently looking for someone in the Vegas area to do some custom graphics to make the car even more unique. ------------------ |

Somewhere around 1992 or 1993, I saw a drawing of a Prowler and an article saying they "might" make this car. Right then, I knew if they did, I HAD to own one. Never wanted another car before that, I'm a Harley / Antique motorcycle person more. In 97, I saw in the paper they were making them. One problem, no garage. Finally, in 2000 I bought a house with a 3 car garage, within 6 months I had 3 Prowler's. ------------------ |

I love the unique, one of a kind, in you face styling, and it's a Chrysler! Never thought I could afford such a high priced toy, especially when they were 20k over MSRP, but I did it! Funny thing, NO ONE tried to talk me out of it, the wife, the boss, my co-workers, NOBODY!!! So, I HAD to buy it! And I LOVE it. One guy hung out the window of his pickup yesterday at the mall to take a picture of my Prowler. COOOOOOL! |

I had to sell my 29 Ford Street Rod when we moved from CLC UT to GA. I always intended to buy another. When I was finally ready I saw a picture of the Prowler. I loved it but figured I could not afford it. Then I saw it in person at the 1998 Atlanta Auto Show. When I saw the sticker my heart about lept out of my chest, because I realized I could afford it. I kept coming back again and again to drool over the beautiful retro style hot rod dreaming of the day I would own one. There might as well not been any other cars at the show. One year later I had my very own. ------------------ |

Same as Bill, saw the Car and Driver Cover and fell in love. Waited till it was in production then sought out the dealer that had one. Went and looked at the car for the first time and couldn't take my eyes off it. Asked how much and when could I put some cash down. Told no orders being taken but the purple on in the show room with trailer could be had for $90,000 cdn. Said wow what was MSRP the dealer would not say, only that none were available at MSRP. Waited 3 years and finally saw an add in local paper and phone right away. Salesperson said it was for sale at MSRP. $65,250 cdn. Only problem was someone else wanted to look at it and they would be at the showroom in 1 hr. Quick call to my wife who was working and she said pick me up and let's go look. Well the Silver knocked my sox's off and it was sitting next to the Dealers purple in the showroom. 10 minutes later Elena my wife bought it for me as a retirement present. Funny thing is it was her Birthday Dec. 22 and I was getting the present. Live is good. Best part of the present has been meeting other owners and this web page. ------------------ |

Saw the concept at the Detroit auto show and the spy photos of the Prangler test mule, just had to have one. Had thought of replacing my Corvette Conv with a new one or Mercedes SLK Conv. When Mercedes introduced the SLK with a 4cyl, I removed it from my list. AC (Alley Cat) pointed me to a midwest dealer which was asking MSRP, the rest is history. My new philosphy on life is, "So many cars, so little time". Rkstr |

To be honest, when I first saw the Purple at an Auto Show, I wasn't impressed. (I was young and foolish). It's only been within the last 1 or 2 years that this car has grown on me. The styling, the rarity, did I mention the styling? Now I'm older, but my wife still thinks I'm foolish. Kevin This message has been edited by jkburns on 04-08-2002 at 09:42 PM |

After customizing cars since I was a teenager I didn't pay attention to cars for almost 20 years (too busy with a lot of other things). Then I saw an ad for the PT Cruiser in Outside magazine. We went to the Chrysler dealership to see it and there just happened to be a 2000 black in the showroom. I went nuts. In 1956 I drew a picture (still have it) of a channeled deuce roadster with Chrysler engine, Olds hydromatic, motorcycle fenders, Plymouth taillights and black lacquer paint. What it cost made no difference, and after almost two years it still makes my heart pound. The mutual funds we sold to buy it were a chunk of our retirement money, but 6 months later they tanked so we're still way ahead with the cat. The Prowler is the essence of car. ------------------ |

I loved it the first time I saw a picture of the show car. Of course, I love anything that looks like an early 30s coupe or roadster hot rod! One thing I knew was that it wasn't for me. Not that I wouldn't want one, just that it wouldn't be possible to have one. I didn't know I would own a Prowler the day before I bought it! ------------------ |
